We do not know how this pandemic will end. We do know that we will be poorer when it’s over: GDP is plunging around the world.
Millions of households have missed, or expect to miss, payments on at least one bill as a result of the coronavirus crisis, and could face serious consequences as a result, the charity Citizens Advice has said.
Since the lockdown started, millions of workers have been furloughed or laid off by employers, and seen their pay fall as a result.
Measures have been put in place to allow borrowers payment holidays and stall evictions, but the charity said that after these protections are lifted, millions face a “financial cliff edge”. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4Op03IqwXc
Tea comes from India, but why. It's time for a story, a story of how the Holy Man of Assam and his devotion to prayer changed our beverage drinking habits forever. This is the story of tea.

A VIDEO POEM. It is the anniversary of D Day and on D Day the King of England called for prayer: "At this historic moment surely not one of us is too busy, too young or too old to play a part in a nationwide, perchance a worldwide, vigil of prayer as the great crusade sets forth. If from every place of worship, from home and factory, from men and women of all ages and many races and occupations, our intercessions rise, then, please God, both now and in a future not remote, the predictions of an ancient Psalm may be fulfilled: "The Lord will give strength unto his people: the Lord will give his people the blessing of peace."" Amen. We so need this call of prayer today. Please share.

A crippled man is healed in Jesus name. So what? What next?
"The Virtual Vicar" and "King James" (so called because he loves the King James version of the Bible, used in this video) talk through the passage and bring out what they believe is the most important point from this incident in the Bible.
What do you think? Comment below.
Bible Passage: Acts 3:1-6.
3 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
"Peter and John went to pray, they met a lame man on the way..."

Factcheck: the pandemic is fundamentally over in the U.K. Dr Mike #Yeadon, co-founder of Ziarco is an Respiratory therapeutic area expert, in a recent interview he claimed that the pandemic was over. However in September and early November 2020, there was a spike in the number of daily new confirmed COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths in the U.K.. A factchecker says that the claim that “the pandemic is fundamentally over in the U.K.” is false. Furthermore, viral illnesses like the seasonal flu occur in waves, contrary to the claim that “viruses don’t do waves.”
But is it true that there is no scientific evidence supporting the claim that many people have preexisting immunity to #COVID-19, nor is there evidence indicating that herd immunity has been achieved in the U.K?

A bill in the Commons could criminalise rough sleepers if they cause a nuisance, including "excessive" smells. More than 10 Conservative MPs are backing changes to ensure action is only taken against people who are begging and not just sleeping rough.

All together now?
Lyrics to facilitate the inevitable singalong:
Land of hope and glory, mother of the free
How shall we extol thee, who are born of thee?
Wider still and wider shall thy bounds be set
God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet
God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet.
Will the BBC have this song at the proms along with Rule Britannia and other singalongable classics? This video is a visual comment on the famously jolly song:

The world is in the early stages of what may be the most deadly pandemic of the past 100 years. In China, thousands of people have already died; large outbreaks have begun in South Korea, Iran and Italy; and the rest of the world is bracing for impact. We do not yet know whether the final toll will be measured in thousands or hundreds of thousands. For all our advances in medicine, humanity remains much more vulnerable to pandemics than we would like to believe. Why haven't we learnt from the past?

Countries have agreed a historic dedicated fund to help vulnerable nations hit by climate disasters, but failed to step up efforts to tackle the damaging emissions that cause them. The assumption is that C02 emissions by richer developed countries have caused the issues by effecting a change in the climate #climatechange. But there is a real problem with this in that it puts the blame on these countries. Are they really to blame and if not who is?
Many difficult decisions also remain about the hard-won compensation scheme, including who pays in and who is eligible for the cash. Campaigners have welcomed the move to support developing countries wrestling with the damaging impact of rising global temperatures, including extreme flooding, storms, drought and rising sea levels, despite having contributed little to the carbon dioxide level increase that caused it.

Musings from my commute. The way to cope with an overwhelming tragedy is to admit that it is beyond us and trust in a higher power, specifically we must trust in the God of the Bible.
