In this video we are disking with the John Deere 5020. The tractor has been gone all winter to a shop, so it was nice to have it back & be able to do some work with it.
In this video we're pulling a John Deere BW disk. The field was plowed in the fall, so in the spring we disk it to break down the soil further (remove the slumps from plowing) to help prepare a better seedbed for planting (seed drilling).
This is a video I made while widening the road that we use to feed the cattle with. We don't have as much snow as we should, but at least we have a fair amount.

Plowing with the 1947 John Deere A. It's using a plow that I just picked up (so it's not setup correctly) and the ground was too dry so it didn't sink in like it should have, but I wanted to let the A stretch its legs a little bit and have some fun turning dirt. It was a little breezy during the afternoon, so I will re-make the video when the ground and light and time of day is better. But I was able to get my mom to try it--so that was pretty impressive!

Although I use the feeder to feed (which enables for a safe one-person job), sometimes it's fun to be able to use the other classic tractors for a bit too. Due to the feeder using hydraulics, some of the other machines do not work with the feeder. Because of this, we sometimes have to use the wagon.
The wagon is old and warn out, yes. Again, I don't use it very often. It's also harder to use as it's a two-man job.
In this video I use a John Deere 420 Utility with under exhaust tractor. It's a fun little tractor, and it has a surprisingly good amount of power given its age and size. The 420 was a very good selling machine for Deere, as they were very versatile and met the Deere standard for reliability.
In this video we're feeding the beef cattle, which contain the spring calves, as well as the herd which is a mix of Hereford and Angus cattle.
For those interested, the John Deere 420 is the successor to the model M. It went the model M, then 40, 420, 430 (with a few other variations such as the Detroit Diesel 2-53 John Deere 435).

This video is a ride across the dry farm on the 1947 John Deere A. It was a nice Sunday evening, the sprinklers were changed, and the light and temperature was perfect for a ride.
I had a bright idea to mount the GoPro on the A and give a vantage point of (nearly) sitting on the tractor. Unfortunately, where I mounted it was pretty shaky (the end of the radiator shutter lever). I thought it was perfect--until I got the video back and saw how shaky it was. So, I apologize for that.
Also, the A has a very nice two-cylinder purr to her. Unfortunately, the GoPro sucks at recording descent audio. Sorry for that too!

I was feeding the cattle yesterday with my dad, and the calves and cows were having a little fun chasing my dogs around. With the grass starting to come up so well with all the rain we've had, they were not very hungry and I guess were looking for a bit of entertainment.

I've been doing some work on the John Deere 435 that I recently purchased & took it out for a nice morning ride. I rebuilt the steering column and it was working great. Previously you couldn't take it down a road as it wobbled so badly.
The 435 Diesel is a fun one to have in the collection, as it has a General Motors (Detroit Diesel) 2-53 two-cylinder two-stroke Diesel engine. You'll notice the engine makes quite a different sound.
The tractor still has a long ways to go before it's fully restored, but in the meantime, it's a fun little project and will be a fun tractor to have.

Trying to catch some of the wild kittens that are in the barn. They are lively and cute little buggers.
