They explored the three northern zones: the Hall of Slumbering Might, the Hall of the Ivory Covenant, and the Cloister of the Highborn. They also defeated the hunt marks Goliath and Deathscythe, though they have yet to report the hunts. They made it through to the Cloister of Distant Song. Now, they will explore the southern part of Nabudis and then fight the two minibosses. The party resumes in the Cloister of Distant Songs. There are Elvorets through most of the area. Babils guard the northern dead end and the door to the boss room. Baknamy guard the southern reaches. A Dark Elemental may also appear here. Fran reaches Level 43 (time 0:52). Balthier reaches Level 43 (time 1:48). In the hall before the door to the boss room, a coffer contains the White Magick spell Protectga (time 3:24). That's three superlative White Magick spells in this place! Protectga targets all allies in range. On the White Mage license board, Balthier picks up White Magick 12 for 110 LP. He sets up a Protectga Gambit. The party examines the Door of Horrors (time 4:27). They insert the Medallion of Bravery, and the door opens. A scene takes place as the party enters the Cloister of Solace (time 5:01). The massive Humbaba Mistant takes up his sword. After the scene, it is boss time against the Humbaba Mistant (time 5:14). It is weak to holy damage, but other elements deal full damage to it. Nihopalaoa + Remedy can inflict Slow, Sap, and Silence on it. Unfortunately, an ally with a Gambit to cast Dispel on Foe: any will dispel the Slow status, for whatever reason. I wonder if this is a bug. I did not think to, but your White Mage could cast Bravery on a physical attacker and Faith on a magickal attacker. Humbaba Mistant's Temblor is a quake attack. It is ineffective if the target has the Float status. Due to Humbaba Mistant's attack power, I recommend having Decoy on your tank. Its physical attacks can inflict Disable and Immobilize. The party defeats the Humbaba Mistant (time 10:27). Its destruction is amusing. The party is treated to a victory scene. We gain control in the Cloister of Solace afterwards (time 11:27). The party obtains a map of the Necrohol of Nabudis. Also, the Lusterless Medallion keens. In the western end of the Cloister of Solace, a one-time coffer contains a Scathe Mote (time 12:12). The party heads back out to the Cloister of Distant Song (time 12:33). At the dead end east of the Door of Horrors, a coffer may contain a Yakei (time 14:01). This is a katana with on-hit Poison. In the room just northwest of the southern exit, a coffer contains a White Mask (time 17:20). The White Mask absorbs Holy-elemental damage. On the White Mage license board, Balthier picks up Mystic Armor 11 for 80 LP. He equips the White Mask. The party takes the exit to the southernmost zone, the Hall of Effulgent Light (time 18:24). In a secret room in the north, a coffer along the northwest wall contains the Black Magick spell Silencega (time 22:14). There is also a nearby red coffer that is clearly a type of Mimic in disguise, namely a Pandora. Vaan reaches Level 44 (time 24:42). In the south-central part of the area, a coffer in an eastern room may contain a Chakra Band (time 25:03). However, Vaan already has one, as with the Power Vest the party acquired earlier. In the southeast, the party finds the exit to the Salikawood (time 27:50). They arrive in the Corridor of Ages. They now head towards the gate crystal. Fran reaches Level 44 (time 28:59). The party takes the southeast exit to the Grand Bower (time 29:17). Then, they exit southeast to the Quietened Trace (time 29:47). They reach the Salika Crystal (time 29:52). Finally, a save point! To report the marks they hunted in Nabudis, they teleport to the West Barbican in Nalbina Fortress. In Jajim Bazaar, they report the defeat of the Deathscythe to Popol (time 30:36). Another curious event with Jovy takes place. "Dead City Watch" complete! The party earns 2,800 gil, 2 Hi-Ethers, and 1 Soul of Thamasa. In the West Ward, they report the defeat of the Goliath to Barrong (time 32:29). Yet another curious event with Jovy takes place. "The Creature Collector" complete! Now, he will gather Hero's Bow upgrades and then do some new sidequests on Windfall Island. Windfall Island: Link resumes on Windfall Island. He boards the King of Red Lions. Then, he conducts the Ballad of Gales and fast-travels to Mother & Child Isles. Mother & Child Isles (time 0:54): Link arrives at a fairy fountain in the hollow inside Mother Isle. When he comes here after completing the Forsaken Fortress, a scene takes place with the Queen of Fairies. She imbues his Hero's Bow with new powers. He can now shoot Fire Arrows and Ice Arrows! Note that it costs magic to use these functions. Even so, the queen is a bit creepy. After exploring the hollow, Link returns to the King of Red Lions. With the Ballad of Gales, he fast-travels to Greatfish Isle. Greatfish Isle (time 5:18): Link sets sail northwest. He passes through the Three-Eye Reef square to the west on his way to the Western Fairy Island square. Western Fairy Island (time 6:06): Link lands on the island. The entrance to the fairy fountain is blocked by fire. To extinguish the flames, Link hits the switch with the Skull Hammer. Then, he goes inside. When he approaches the fairy fountain, the Great Fairy speaks to him. She upgrades his arrow capacity to a maximum of 60. Link goes back outside. Aboard the King of Red Lions, he conducts the Ballad of Gales to fast-travel to the Tower of the Gods. Tower of the Gods Square (time 8:43): Link sets sail east. He passes through the Eastern Triangle Island square on his way to the Thorned Fairy Island square. Thorned Fairy Island (time 9:48): After taking out a prickly enemy ship, Link lands on Thorned Fairy Island. The entrance to the fairy fountain is blocked by thorny vines. To get rid of them, Link hits the three switches with the Skull Hammer. Afterwards, he goes inside. When he approaches the fountain, a scene takes place with the Great Fairy. She upgrades his arrow capacity to a maximum of 99. Very good! Too bad Link could not get these upgrades as soon as he got the Hero's Bow. Outside, Link boards the King of Red Lions. With the Ballad of Gales, he fast-travels to Windfall Island. Windfall Island (time 12:37): Link lands at the docks and conducts the Song of Passing to make it nighttime. After saving, he heads into town. He has already gotten the Windmill to start turning, which is a prerequisite to what he is about to do. He carried out Seekers of Adoulin Mission 1-8: "Arciela Appears Again". He also went through the Dho Gates west of the Foret de Hennetiel and found the Marjami Ravine. Finally, he carried out the quest "Flavors of Our Lives". Now, he will carry out the first few missions for Seekers of Adoulin Chapter 2, starting with Mission 2-1: "Budding Prospects". Heorot resumes in his Mog House in Bastok. He spends Merit Points on a couple more upgrades. In his delivery box, he receives gil for a couple of Felicifruits that sold on auction. Thank you to the buyers! Heorot heads outside. Bastok Mines (time 2:08): Heorot starts the "Assist Channel" objective under Tutorials, Basics in Records of Eminence. The notification for it in the chat log is bugging me. The objective is to speak to an A.M.A.N. Liaison outside a Mog House in one of the starting cities. At the auction house, he puts a couple more Felicifruits up for sale. Then, he teleports to Bastok Markets. Bastok Markets (time 3:56): Near the residential area, Heorot talks to the A.M.A.N. Liaison at H-7. The Liaison provides information about the Assist Channel. This concludes the "Assist Channel" objective. Afterwards, Heorot teleports to Western Adoulin. Western Adoulin (time 11:57): Heorot goes to the Mummers' Coalition. Inside, he talks to Masad at G-10 for Seekers of Adoulin Mission 2-1: "Budding Prospects". Meeting Teodor during the quest "Flavors of Our Lives" is a prerequisite. In a cutscene, Heorot meets Teodor again and asks him about the leafkin queen. Teodor provides a tale of the Founder King. Seekers of Adoulin Mission 2-1-1: "The Light Shining in Your Eyes" begins. Time to report back to Levil at the Pioneers' Coalition. Heorot uses the Waypoint at G-10 to teleport to the Pioneers' Coalition. He arrives at E-8. In the Pioneers' Coalition, Heorot talks to Levil at E-8 for another cutscene. Seekers of Adoulin Mission 2-1-2: "The Heirloom" begins. Heorot must go to Castle Adoulin to look for Arciela. He uses the Waypoint at E-8 to teleport to the Castle Adoulin Gates in Eastern Adoulin. Eastern Adoulin (time 23:43): Heorot arrives at the castle gates at K-10. As he arrives, a cutscene with some maids takes place. Seekers of Adoulin Mission 2-2: "An Aimless Journey" begins. Heorot should go to the Cirdas Caverns to seek Arciela, who has gone to investigate an Ergon Locus there. This is video #15 in my playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the SNES. Link reenters the Dark World through a teleporter between the Lost Woods and Kakariko Village. It is accessible from the north side with the Magic Hammer. The Skeleton Forest is the counterpart of the Lost Woods in the northwestern Dark World. The third dungeon, Skull Woods, is located here. In fact, it has three sections and numerous entrances. The "3" on the map denotes the entrance to the final section, where the boss is located. The first entrance that Link uses is a hole directly northeast of the entrance from the teleport tile (time 0:42). Great, more Hardhat Beetles. Link heads south and through the door to the east. Before grabbing the chest north of the fire bar, Link heads through the doorway to the north (time 1:59). There are Gibdos and a Stalfos here, but they are trapped behind skull pots. Just watch out for the Wallmaster, which will take Link back to the entrance if it grabs him. The northwest chest contains the first Key. The door to the east leads to an entrance from the forest. Back in the room to the south, Link grabs the Compass from the chest (time 2:55). However, this also makes holes appear, so be careful. Link then heads to the room to the east, which is overrun with traps, bumpers, Gibdos, and a persistent Wallmaster. The center chest contains a Key. Through the locked northeast door, Link will find the room with the Map (time 4:05). He will have to trigger the first star switch to open the chest safely. To the west, Link exits the dungeon for now. Outside, he travels through the ribcages to the northwest so that he can reach another dungeon entrance (time 5:02). This is the central section of the dungeon. Baris, Gibdos, and a Wallmaster infest the entry room. After taking out the normal enemies, Link will have to pull a statue onto the switch to weigh it down so that he can go through the northern door. The room to the north has Stalfos, a red Bari, a Gibdo, and a Wallmaster (time 6:07). The chest contains the dungeon's Big Key. After collecting this, Link leaves the dungeon again. East of the ribcage tunnels, the center bush hides a hole leading into the eastern section of the dungeon (time 7:43). He lands safe in a ring of skull pots near a Helmasaur and a Hardhat Beetle. The cracked wall to the west can be bombed through. He should trip the uppermost star switch before going through. In the room to the west, he has to pull on a switch to blast open the southern wall (time 8:31). Past some Mini-Moldorms, he finds a big chest containing the dungeon's hot treasure, the Fire Rod. This will defeat certain enemies in one shot, such as red Baris and Gibdos, but it also eats up magic. After collecting this, Link is done with the eastern section of the dungeon. He heads through the ribcage tunnels again and reenters the central of the dungeon (time 9:27). He then goes two rooms to the west. A Key can be found under the northwest pot (time 9:54). For ease, you can now proceed to the final section of the dungeon. For completion, I will go around to the final entrance to the dungeon. Past some tunnels to the north, east, and south, there is a hole leading to the north central room of the dungeon's central section (time 10:22). The star switch in the middle will rearrange the holes in the floor. In the southwest room, Link can now enter the locked door (time 11:01). There are three Helmasaurs, and the floor around the central sections will fall away shortly after Link enters. After grabbing the treasures here, Link leaves through the southwest exit. The entrance to the final section of the dungeon is in the northwest corner of the forest (time 12:04). To enter, Link has to shoot the gross tongue extending from the dungeon entrance with the Fire Rod. If he gets here with at least one Key, he can go ahead through the locked door to the north. If he does not, he will need to go downstairs and thread his way to the northeast door to the room to the east. There are Gibdos and spike traps in the eastern room. The southwest door from the eastern room leads to the first room's chest, which contains a Key (time 13:29). Armed with the Key, Link heads through the northern door in the first room (time 14:07). This room features Baris, a Wallmaster, and a sort of maze requiring the use of star switches to get around to the eastern door. The hall to the east requires the lighting of four torches (time 14:53). After clearing out the mummies, it is most expedient to use the Fire Rod to light the torches. It is required for the northernmost one. The northern exit to the west leads to a room with a Gibdo and Mini-Moldorms (time 15:44). The exit is hidden behind some vines in the center of the northern wall. In the room to the north are a Hardhat Beetle, a Gibdo, a Mini-Moldorm, and a Helmasaur. The Gibdo holds the Key.
