The officer involved in the below incident has been identified as Police Officer III Brent Houlihan, Serial No. 31822, assigned to Northeast Division.

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS) that occurred in Northeast Division.
On August 26, 2023, around 12:24 p.m., Northeast Division uniformed patrol officers responded to a radio call of a “Possible ADW suspect there now” at the 800 block of Nolden Street. The person reporting, later identified as 51-year-old Angel Garrido, advised Communications Division he was “Armed with a gun and going to hurt someone in the apartment.” While on the line with communications, Garrido refused to answer any questions and further stated, he was “going to hurt whoever showed up to the location.”
When the officers arrived, they walked into the entrance of the two-story apartment building, which took them to a narrow stairway leading up to the second floor. The officers walked up the stairway to the second floor and as they neared the top, they announced their presence. Garrido appeared in the hallway and walked towards the officers while holding a large kitchen knife in his right hand. The knife was held with the blade pointed down and towards the officers.
The officers immediately verbalized with Garrido, ordering him to drop the knife, but he refused to comply. Garrido continued advancing toward the officers and an OIS occurred.
Garrido was struck by gunfire, fell to the ground and was taken into custody without further incident.
The Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported Garrido by rescue ambulance to a local hospital where he was admitted and is in stable condition.
No officers or other citizens were injured as a result of this incident.
LAPD’s specialized Force Investigation Division responded to the scene and interviewed witnesses and supervised the collection of evidence by the Forensic Science Division. The complete investigation will be reviewed by the Chief of Police, the Board of Police

On Tuesday, February 6, 2024, deputies responded to 4717 Davisson Avenue in regards to a man who was harming himself with a knife. When deputies arrived, the man ran out of the home and immediately charged at the deputies with the knife. The deputies fired their weapons at the man and rendered aid. He was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The video is being released pursuant to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Release of Video Recordings in Critical Incidents policy. The investigation into the shooting is still under way.

On Thursday, June 22, 2023 at around 9:10 pm, an unknown male and female entered a smoke shop, located at the 4300 block of West Fuqua, in Houston, Texas. The male pulled out a handgun while demanding the money from the cash register. Once the suspects had the money from the cash drawer and various merchandise, they fled the location in a black Chevrolet Tahoe. Houston PD #888594-23

On Friday, July 14, 2023 at around 10:50 am, the complainant, a convenience store owner, was arriving back to his store at the 4700 block of Almeda Genoa, in Houston, Texas. The complainant stated that as he arrived and was walking towards the entrance to the store, two unknown males approached him and forcibly grabbed his cash from his hands, The complainant stated that he briefly struggled with the suspects, who were able to overpower him, and grab the cash that he was carrying. The suspects then got into a black Toyota 4-runner and fled the scene. Houston PD #998410-23
Note: The complainant stated that prior to the incident, he went to the Hamni Bank, located at 6588 Corporate and withdrew a large sum of money at the drive-thru window. The complainant stated that he believes that the suspects followed him back to his store.
Suspect description: Black male, 25 to 30 years old, 5’8 to 5’10, 150 to 150 pounds, black pants and black hoodie and black cap.

On Monday, September 11, 2023 at around 5:30 am, three unknown males entered a convenience store, located at the 6100 block of Wallisville, Houston, Texas. The males attempted to purchase beer and were turned away by the store clerk for being too young. The males walked out of the store and then re-entered with one of the males armed with a handgun. The suspect pointed the gun at the store clerk and demanded the money from the cash register while the second suspect walked over to the cooler and removed several cases of beer. The suspects then fled the location in an older model Chevrolet Tahoe. Houston PD #1301702-23

On Saturday, February 11, 2023 at around 11:30 pm, an unknown male entered a drug store, located at the 5200 block of Almeda, in Houston, Texas. The male approached the employee at the counter, displayed a handgun, and demanded the money from the cash register. The employee complied with the suspect, opened the cash drawer, and placed the money into a bag that the suspect was holding. The suspect then walked out of the store and got into the passenger side of an older model four door Mercedes and drove away from the location. Houston PD #208621-23

Officer-Involved Shooting in Newton Division

The Department’s understanding of the facts and circumstances may change as additional evidence is collected and analyzed**
Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS) that occurred in Newton Division.
On December 18, 2021, around 10:45 a.m., officers responded to a radio call for a domestic violence suspect at an apartment complex in the 2200 block of Wall Street. While the officers were at the location, the suspect, later identified as 34-year-old Rosendo Olivio Jr., approached the officers armed with a folding knife in one hand and a butane torch lighter in the other. Olivio was yelling profanities and threatening to burn down the apartment building. Olivio was ordered to drop the knife; however, he ignored the officer’s commands and continued to approach them while still holding the knife, resulting in an officer-involved shooting. Olivio was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel pronounced Olivio deceased at the scene.
The knife Olivio was armed with was recovered at the scene.
No officers were injured during the incident.
LAPD’s specialized Force Investigation Division responded to the scene and interviewed witnesses, and supervised the collection of evidence by the Forensic Science Division.
The complete investigation will be reviewed by the Chief of Police, the Board of Police Commissioners, and the Office of the Inspector General to determine the thoroughness and accuracy of the investigation and whether the use of deadly force complied with LAPD’s policies and procedures. Additionally, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office who responded
to the scene will review the subsequent FID investigation, evidence collected, and witness statements to determine if the force used by the officer was reasonable.
