It doesn't get any more basic then this. Sometimes a computer comes to me for repair that is so far neglected and has so much file corruption and damage, the fastest possible way to 'fix' it is to 'Nuke & Pave' the whole thing. That means to 'clean' the hard drive by deleting the boot record and partition and starting over with a fresh install of Windows. Many wanna-be techs Nuke & Pave for every problem they encounter. These are NOT real techs! I don't like to do Nuke & Paves because it doesn't require any technical skill.
