Monster Hunter Rise - Part 88 HR Magnamalo & Bazelgeuse
And here we have reached the final video that I have recorded. I simply lost the desire to play after how underwhelming the 3.0 update was in terms of content, namely recycling a large majority of fights with minimal incentive to do them and the lackluster event quests (these I look to still do). The next couple days may be a few event quests as this winds down as I don't see much life left into it until a G expansion, and even that I believe is going to be pretty lacking.
As for the video at hand, we have fought Magnamalo countless times already to the point where we have both of his crowns as well as all of his rare drops and numerous pieces of his equipment. There really isn't anything left to say. As for Bazel, I do not plan to take up Gunlancing, and I can't remember if I use his boots in my Sticky set, but he doesn't have much left at this point either. I think I have one of his crowns, but other than a couple pieces of his armor, I don't think he really has a place.
So with this, I think I am done with Rise for a little while unless an event quest or two draws me back in. Overall, I like a few of the things they did, but too much of the core has been lost for this to really be a worthy addition to the series. Hopefully an Indie series or something comes along that can capture the old spirit. And if things are really bad, I can always record some 3U since I do have it on WiiU.

Due to how lengthy the exploration segment before this was, I opted to separate the videos. While trying to get out of the Lair, PACT arrives and we have to fight the Wolves again while evading the Vanguard Cannon. They haven't had much of a power boost since we last saw them, and we've incrementally boosted our power from the encounters to where they aren't as much of an issue to deal with. Sola can shred anything other than Kuushana herself, but Kryska can obliterate that mech if it gets too close to her. Once the Wolves are down, you can disable the Huntress and farm this place up to your satisfaction.

The electric flying squirrel from World makes his return here and has adapted to the change in terrain pretty well. His weakness is water, and I couldn't remember if his tail comes off (it doesn't, but it does break). Some of his stuff can be used to upgrade Khezu stuff or make its own Thunder weapons depending on what tree you need, so you may have to fight it more than once. Due to its speed, I imagine it may be fairly difficult for some of the slower weapons, but I am intent on abusing my bowgun and this is no different.

This part features some big reveals that is going to point us in the direction that the rest of the game is going to take. One of the hints you can see in the thumbnail. We are about to hit the half-way point if the indicator in the bottom right corner is to be trusted (count the dark dots, then look at the video number here), so there will probably be some twists coming out in the next few videos before we hit the final stretch of the game. I definitely would have liked to be able to see Eleanor's poster in greater detail, but I can't seem to find a way to hide the text, sadly.

With Hikawa's trap successful in wiping out the Mantra, we are able to briefly reunite with our friends before going separate ways. Chiaki seems to be doing fine for now, but Isamu left one prison to find himself in another, and this time the Warden means business...
We start off the video with the Hell Biker fight, which is easier than Daisoujou I have to say. If you have wind and fire protection across the team, you can deny him his turns and then you just have to beat him down. Overall, this demon is not very impressive and generally I only fuse him for collection purposes as he's probably the most worthless of the Fiends.
From there we enter Kabukicho to rescue Isamu and we run into some Mannikin friends who want us to find a fellow named Futomimi. The prison itself requires us to travel along the ceiling to bypass obstacles, unlock various gates, and then ascend to the top where we can face the ice elemental, Mizuchi. Normally, this guy isn't really that much of a problem, but he gets extremely lucky early that sets me back somewhat. However, we are able to claw our way back in and then we can bash him into oblivion.

The final battle of the campaign has arrived. There is no Rivals or anything after this. Your goal is to blast Sturm's laser within 30 days, which is not as difficult as it seems, just annoying with the falling meteors.
I brought the Advanced campaign guys here and you get to see a little bit of the strategy here. Normally, Colin does the heavy lifting while the flanks serve as decoys. However, Sturm over commits to Max, leaving Eagle to go for a swift win.
For beating the game, we unlock Sturm. For beating all of the levels the game has to offer, we unlock Hachi. Both unlocks are considerably easier to get here than in the original versions, so the devs did go soft on us in the end.
From here, I will put out a few War Room maps before calling things here. I haven't done all of them yet, but I will do a few just to see how things have changed with the AI over there. If there are any requests I can look into doing them, but some of those maps are a time commitment and a half.

Due to how brief this segment is relative to the one coming after it, I opted to take a break from the main game and spend some time catching up on all of the fishing that I missed. As a result, we are able to face off against a few members of the Erebonian anglers. Sadly, we are not far enough into the game to take them all on as we need access to a new fishing hole in order to get the last species.
Otherwise, we head off to the Doll Studio and meet with Joerg to ask him some questions. He is willing to cooperate to a small degree and we get some answers. However, the most important thing we get is the warning about the seventh Anguis...

To be honest, these mirror match ups are the hunts I don't really get. There is no tactical difference or real theme to these, but we have to do them in order to get everything. Anyway, being the same monster, your water weapons will get their mileage, provided you want to mess with elemental weapons at all.
Their bodies are in the proper shape to get more out of Pierce rounds, but there can be a case made for quite a few different ammo types against them. Since their tails do not come off, you are free to fire all of your slicing rounds into their faces if you want. Your call on how to skin this squirrel...
