This trio sonata in F major was composed by Jean-Féry Rebel (1666-1747), a French Baroque composer and violinist. It is named after the Roman goddess Venus.

This is the prelude to the first act of Wagner's opera Tristan und Isolde ("Tristan and Isolde"), which went into premiere in 1865. At the beginning of the first act, we find Isolde (together with her handmaiden Brangäne) on Tristan's ship, heading for Cornwall.

The Marcha Real ("Royal March") is the national anthem of Spain. It was composed by Manuel de Espinosa de los Monteros (ca. 1730-1810), and first published in 1761, originally named La Marcha Granadera ("March of the Grenadiers"). The Marcha Real is one of the few national anthems in the world with no offical lyrics.

The march Unter der Admiralsflagge ("Under the Admiral's Flag") was written by famous Czech composer Julius Fučík (1872-1916) for the launching ceremony of the dreadnought "Viribus Unitis" of the Austro-Hungarian Navy. The name of this ship, which means "With United Forces", was the personal motto of Emperor Franz Joseph I.

The accompanying painting depicts several ships of the Austro-Hungarian Navy, led by Viribus Unitis. It was made by Austrian artist August von Ramsberg (1866-1947).
This anonymous march dates back to the eighteenth century, and is named after "lord Van der Duyn". The exact identity of this man has unfortunately been lost to history, but there are three possible candidates: lieutenant general Adam van der Duyn van ’s-Gravemoer (d. 1693), colonel Nicolaas van der Duyn van Rijswijk and major general Nicolaas van der Duyn van ’s-Gravemoer (d. 1728).

The Concerto per Mandolino in La Maggiore ("Concerto for Mandolin in A Major"), by Italian composer Carlo Cecere (1706-1761). During the 18th century, the mandolin was a popular instrument in Naples, where Cecere worked.

Erlkönig ("The Erl-King") was originally a poem by the German author Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832), inspired by a traditional Danish ballad (translated into German by Johann Gottfried Herder). It was set to music by Austrian composer Franz Schubert (1797-1828) in 1815. Schubert's composition was an immediate success when it was first performed in 1821, and has remained popular since then.
Sung by Swiss opera tenor Mauro Peter (b. 1987), with Helmut Deutsch playing the piano.
The accompanying painting was made by German artist Julius von Klever (1850-1924).
