Correct dating of the Book of Revelation has a significant impact on the method of approach taken regarding its interpretation. If we view the book as written in AD 95 or 96, near the end of Domitian's reign then it requires us to take a futurist view of the message of the Apocalypse. It means it cannot be applied as a future prophecy of 70AD. If however, it was written in Nero's reign, then we have a whole new set of paradigms to consider and the destruction of Jerusalem is definitely a major consideration. The majority of the writings in the gospels center around 70AD and the destruction of the temple, not post 70AD event.
