http://www.SwimmingPoolSteve.com - SVRS stands for Safety Vacuum Release System and this refers to pool pumps that have an added security feature to prevent from someone becoming trapped and drowning due to an entrapment hazard. If a pool pump were plumbed in such a way that the main drain of the pool was an isolated suction line direct to the pool pump then this would be an entrapment hazard. This is also true for hot tubs. In 2002 Virginia Graeme Baker died as a result of an entrapment hazard caused by a faulty main drain lid in a hot tub which lead to the VGBA - The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool & Spa Safety Act. Many residential pools in North America are still not compliant with the safety standard established with this law. SVRS pumps are not required, but are a supplemental form of protection against accidents due to entrapment hazards in pools and spas. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LKnDLEDrkE
From http://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/filter-pressure.html - Learn why the pressure of your swimming pool filter is very important. It is typically one of the few devices on your whole swimming pool system that gives you any indication of what is actually happening in there. The pressure gauge shows you the amount of resistance to flow, and the dirtier your filter, the more resistance to flow you will have which makes the number in your pressure gauge increase. For most filters, when that number is 7-10 psi higher than your clean operational pressure you know it is time for a cleaning.

From http://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/hot-tub-reviews.html - In this video Steve talks about the general costs associated with the electrical service installation for new hot tubs. The electrical demands of hot tubs is very heavy and as such they require a heavy gauge wire directly to your house panel. If your house panel is a long way from the hot tub location, or happens to run through a finished area of your house, then the electrical costs for hooking up a new tub can go up quickly. Even worse would be if you do not have 50A or 60A available in your house panel which would mean you need to upgrade the main electrical service to your house and change the house panel, before you could accommodate a new hot tub.
