Scars - My skull caved in but this only helped my playing! I am ONE with my guitar!
My first album recorded after my aneurism recovery was May 3/21. I was lucky to still be able to play and improvise. Since then, I have increased my play sessions to an almost daily basis. No time to lose! My skull caved in where they cracked me open, but caulking putty fixed it real quick!

Either the Drummer forgets it’s not the end of the song at 8:03, or the singers went on too long.
Graham Bonnet portion of the show. Amazingly, he still sounds as good as he did in 1982. For a guy over 70, this is quite an accomplishment. In contrast, Gary Barden has lost his voice, and needed help to hit high notes in 'Attack of the mad axeman'. The band was great, the pacing was excellent, and Schenker wasted no time in dissing his brother Rudolf over the Scorpions having taken credit for Holiday, most of lovedrive, and Rudolf literally copying Schenker's guitar, hair color, etc. Quite funny. It's true, though.
This band was a lot more energetic than Uli Roth a few weeks ago. Everyone looked like they were having a good time, as opposed to Uli, who seemed to be going through the motions. This was also a 3 hour show, loaded with the best of UFO, Scorpions, MSG over a 40 year period. Schenker has lost none of his abilities, and really engaged with the audience. I give full props to him for not relying on guitar pedals (Uli), not using a whammy bar and excessive histrionics (Uli) and just using his fingers and a fairly clean tone. But what's with the Russian fur hat? You know right away who is bald in the band by the presence of hats or toques: Schenker and his drummer.
Schenker is a extreme rarity these days in that he doesn’t do the shows for nostalgia cash in, which he could easily do because he has a vast back catalogue. He is constantly creating and releasing new albums like clockwork every two years, and these are good albums. If you look at all his other contemporaries over 60 like Frank Marino or Roth these guys have stopped producing original material decades ago.
As for the four singers, number one was Bonnet, followed by Robin McCauley. These guys sound exactly the same as the 80’s. I could have heard the entire album of ‘Assault attack’. 4 songs was not enough. I could’ve also heard a lot more from the McAuley albums as well because those were really great, especially the first two. But they have only so much time in a three hour show. Best solo of the night was definitely save yourself which is a masterpiece in melodic design. I miss the days when Schenker spent more time designing classic melodic solos for his songs instead of just improvising.
Doggie White is a strange case. He is certainly not in the top of the MSG singers. He struggled to hit a lot of notes, and his voice did not harmonize well with a lot of Schenker's notes. He is fun to watch, but his moves are all a bit spinal tap, and clearly influenced by Ronnie James Dio. It was also entertaining to watch the two drunk blonds at the front of the stage constantly try to grab his crotch.

This was my last song on my last day busking Oct 19/22. It didn't go unappreciated as I got some wise advice from this passing zombie. He was one of those new hybrids that can actually speak. This is way more valuable than cash tips! And I actually listened! I'm done for the year. Weather has cooled off, rain season started. Now I will be processing street videos from the last six months and posting them over the winter. I did 72 street shows at 5-6 hours each this year. My most productive year of busking yet. I was definitely playing better than previous years. You can't help but get better with daily marathons. I went out with a 90 minute blues jam Oct 19/22 of Miles Davis 'All blues'. I've played this a few times, but this was special and I kept it going a lot longer. I wanted to end on a high note, a really hot jam, and I succeeded. Now I can rest. I will be doing studio home videos as well over the winter. Lots of content still coming up!

Busking and youtube facts:
1) Street playing is not all fun and games and dancing kids. Doing this for 7 years. I regularly face not only verbal abuse, but physical assault as I work a few blocks from downtown eastside Vancouver. I'm surrounded by addicts, drunks, and people who should be in mental homes.
2) I'm unemployed. All live music including busking, is banned. I lost all work last year and received ZERO compensation. I had a very bad year in 2020 and had a serious brain aneyruism in April 2021. Still recovering from that.
3) I make ZERO from youtube no matter how many views I get. I was demonetized by Google years ago as part of their culling of small accounts. I don't run ads. And more importantly, even if I did, most of my videos are instantly copyrighted and auto monetized by record labels because they are COVERS. If you see an ad, it's the record label collecting. 6) I get asked this 100 times a day so here's the answer: I play on the street and not in a band because all the clubs closed years ago. I used to lead many bands from 2006 to 2018. That's all gone. It's also a lot more hassle, and less money, to run a band than play by myself.
