Test Recording on new i76 Setup - Practicing driving a Charger on Scratch
My main desktop i76 stopped working and I've been really busy with school the last few months so I haven't had much time but now it's fully working on my laptop including a controller and recording software.
Scratch is a really fun map I've discovered so I was just doing a little practice on it. Also the Charger is a car I haven't played much in the game so I decided to give it a try and I really like it, it's very stable during high speed maneuvers I've found. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWQGpmaDP9s

Sorry the front view camera on the dirt bike was tilted up a little too far to see the road ahead. I plan on modifying some foam for the front bar so that I can put a camera there facing the proper direction next time. I have a track and some jumps and mud and all sorts of fun things I can video on the dirt bike.

No other shooter is this fast paced or action packed. Adrenaline junkies rejoice. High refresh rate monitors are a must if you want to be competitive with this game, but anybody can play for fun. I've even seen some 144hz monitors for around $100 now so they are getting very affordable.

So I got this new monitor and it seems to be helping my shots. Tribes Vengeance is one of the only games I know of that can take full advantage of modern high refresh rate ultrawide screen monitors. Not many games give you unlimited range to adjust the FOV and resolution, and not many games are fast paced and precise enough to require high refresh rates. Even though it is quite old at this point the graphics still hold up to modern games. In fact it's almost like a new golden age for Tribes Vengeance. I used to play on a 17" screen at maybe 50 frames per second. With modern hardware we can finally play on wide 32" screens at 240hz and huge field of view. This game has truly never been this good and the community is continuing to improve it.
So many games are released and then abandoned by the developers, and then they try to make another version of that game and then abandon that one too. And this goes on and on. So why not just pick one and keep improving it instead of just making new bad ones over and over? The most popular games of all time were made possible only by the community modding and customizing support. Counter-Strike 1.6 was the most popular online game in the world for years and years. DOTA was the most popular online game for at least one year. Both of these games started as community modifications that were only made possible because the developers of the base games included map editors and other game development tools and they allowed the community to modify the game and host their own servers. This is the same reason Tribes Vengeance is doing so well today. The community still loves it and will keep using the included development tools to make it better and better.
Games that are locked down with no development tools and no way to host your own dedicated servers always end up dying and they never return. Some people only like to play games that are new. I don't really understand what how new or old a game is has to do with it. The only deciding factor for me when choosing a game to play is how good the game is and how fun it is. What does it matter if it is 1 year old or 10 years old if it's the most fun game you've ever played?
I'm hoping that the developing parts of the world like India and Mexico and all the countries that are just starting to become wealthy enough for their citizens to afford even just older or midrange computers allows Tribes Vengeance to expand its player base. I think if everybody in the world knew how good this game was and that it was free, we would always have players in the servers. It seems like my youtube channel might be helping because the other day there were more players in the game than I have seen online for years. At the very least the population is stable and not decreasing.
