Almost 2000 migrants have been moved from their temporary camp ahead of a fierce storm in New York. The migrants were originally housed at Brooklyn’s Floyd Bennett Field, a former airport, but have been moved via bus convoy to nearby James Madison High School until the danger has passed. However, this means that the school’s students have been forced to study remotely while the migrants are housed in the building.
A city spokesperson called the relocation a ‘protective measure,’ but locals have voiced concerns at the move. One local resident complained that ‘There’s 1,900 people getting thrown into my neighborhood, half a block from where I live and we don’t know who they are.’ Additionally, a local woman was seen shouting at the buses of migrants as they passed, angry that they had kicked all the kids out of school.

The Pentagon has declassified a video shot by a US MQ-9 Reaper drone, which has once again raised the question of unexpected visitors.
The incident occurred last year, when a drone spotted a ‘metallic orb’ flying over the Middle East. Sean Kirkpatrick, director of the Pentagon’s catchily-named All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), elaborated on the sighting during a Senate hearing. ‘Silver. Translucent. Metallic. 10,000 to 30,000 feet with apparent velocities from the stationary to mach to no thermal exhausts usually detected.’ He added, somewhat alarmingly, that the object’s behavior was ‘consistent with other metallic orb observations in the region.’
Kirkpatrick didn’t rule out the possibility of the UFO being ‘adversary breakthrough technology’, but said it could also fall under the heading of ‘known objects or phenomena’ or ‘extraterrestrials’.
So it’s either something we know, something we don’t know, or someone who got lost on their way to intergalactic McDonald’s.

Colombia’s defense minister has confirmed that 36 people were injured by two large explosions at a military base in Cucuta – three of them seriously wounded.
Diego Molano told reporters, ‘We reject and repudiate this vile and terrorist act which sought to attack the soldiers of Colombia.’ He added that two men in a white Toyota pickup truck drove into the facility, used by the 30th Brigade of the National Army, after representing themselves as officials. They apparently set the bombs off sometime later.
Molano said he would leave for Cucuta immediately to investigate along with General Luis Jimenez, the general commander of Colombia’s armed forces. According to military sources cited by Reuters, both civilians and army personnel were injured. The number of civilians wounded was not specified.
Molano said the government’s ‘initial hypothesis’ is that the National Liberation Army rebel group may be responsible. However, ‘dissidents’ with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia are under suspicion too – though no suspects have been identified.
As of now, no group has claimed responsibility.
