We did some hiking on Mount Shasta, it's a volcano that 'between eruptions', the southernmost volcano in the cascadia range and it's one of the most prominent peaks in the USA, it stands over 10,000 feet taller than anything nearby. So yeah, this is me trying to share how amazing this place is while Orion tries to distract me :)
For people who use real measurements - the Peak is 4,322 m high, and the mountain's volume is about 350 cubic km.

It turns out that Louis Slotin's hand was the critical factor.....

Exploring the rest of the Texas Sector, picking up some class 3 shields in the high tech stations, and finding out those Xenos I was shooting down actually have a home in the Colorado sector. Oops.

Korea (AKA South Korea) made the first launch of its KSLV-2 rocket this week, this is the first domestically developed orbital class rocket by that nation. The first 2 stages operated correctly, but the third stage shut down early leading to the payload burning up over the Indian Ocean.
Regardless, this is a big step forward for this country's space Program.
Previously Korea developed rockets using Russian technology based on the Angara and RD-151, or launched satellites using other launch providers, but as the nation has grown it has become able to sustain a home grown launch capability.

I've seen photos of the ISS taken with telescopes and special tracking mounts, but I wanted to challenge myself to take a recognisable photo of the ISS using a handheld consumer grade camera. The Nikon P1000 has the longest zoom lens of any superzoom camera, it'll run up to 125 times magnification, a focal length of 3000mm . But tracking the ISS with a handheld camera is not trivial, and ultimately it wasn't my wobbly hands that were the limit but the wobbly air.
If you want to see what a Pro can do with satellite photography then I suggest checking Thierry Legault's website

I still love the look and feel of Strike Suit Zero, sure the idea of mechs flying around in space is dubious but it's so amazingly anime I forgive them. Strike Suit Infinity is a standalone game that removes the storyline and instead offers a score attack mode as the core gameplay. Certainly worth $4.99.

I've been a bit miffed however because I bought the game on GOG.com and it has been almost unsupported while all the updates and DLC were released on Steam. So When the entire package was in the Steam summer sale for $9.99 I finally gave in.

They're working around the clock building this thing, and while it doesn't look like something that would fly, Elon Musk keeps telling us it will.
Which leads to questions as to why it's designed the way it is, why the team seem to be working so hard, whether the engine nozzles we can see are attached to real engines?

While Star Wars movies use the trappings of technology they don't usually embrace science, however there's always a few questions raised that are worth talking about.
