I complete my EPIC look at this Avalon Hill game, by looking at WRECKING CHARIOTS, and taking hits to the drivers, what happens when a driver is decharioted (if there is such a word). I complete the series by looking at the campaign game.
Connect 4. Board Game Review.
I explain the very simple rules of how to play and show a couple of example sets.
Then the interesting bit, a discussion of Variants. First of all via the size of the board, and then my own variant.
Space Quest. PC Game series review, with original boxes, artwork etc.
I am very pleased to have played the complete space quest series. Here I show off the various boxes and accessories that I have from the series. These days you can pick them up 1,2,3 and 4,5,6 from the Gog website.
Risk - 1963 Edition.
An unboxing and Review of Game Play.
The 1963 edition as far as I'm concerned is the classic version of the game. The pieces are little tubes or triangles.
In the video I show all the pieces, the gist of how to play, and a hint of the best tactics. However a number of wonderful mulit-part series will be unleashed on here soon showing how to win in various situations.
Risk Board Game Strategy. Part 4 of 9.
I start by looking at where to place your initial armies. Now, this is all connected to how you played your before-the-game diplomacy and how things are going on the diplomatic front as each player places.
In addition your starting position will contain a selection of random countries, so even though you might not be placed near your ideal first continent, you can be working towards taking that continent by force.
To this end I start on thoughts on successful battles, the percentage probabilities are in the next video.
Risk Board Game Strategy. Part 3 of 9. Discussion of Continents.
I go through all the continents in Risk, discussing the merits of aiming to conquer each one first. I debunk a few myths about them, and I might challenge your own preconceptions of what is best.
Risk Board Game Strategy. Part 1 of 9. Introduction to concepts.
This series will take both novice and experienced player alike to a level where they can find a plan in all sorts of situations. Based on years of my own experience in playing these types of games I will show you that essentially they all boil down to your diplomatic skills over any short term tactics you might learn elsewhere.
I take the viewer through the basics of the mechanics of Risk so that we all all on a level playing field, then we get into the REAL stuff, which wins games.
I hope you find this series useful.
The Guns of August. Avalon Hill Board Game Review. Part 1 of 2.
I start with an unboxing. The rule book is refreshingly lightwieght for an Avalon Hill game (which can be otherwise slow to play).
The map board is attractive. I show the game turn sheet and my own special coutner boxes.
I run through the scenarios in brief.
Risk Game Strategy (part 5 of 9). Dice Roll Probabilities for battles.
Although this series concentrates on diplomacy and poise as the way to win, You need to know these mechanics to correctly judge when to attack (from a probability point of view).
Of course these figures show the expected outcomes, in the short term 2-3 six sided dice can give very skewed results, so please remember this in your calculations.
This is a quick look at the board game - Battle over Britain by SPI / TSR. I look at the contents of the game. It's a complex and slow game to play and my games club didn't take to it. However for a realistic simulation it's worth looking at as the game was set up to be a simulation.
