En él puede verse a la víctima gritando y luchando por su vida mientras el escualo lo rodea hasta atraparlo y hacerlo desaparecer. Aparecen también varios testigos que, mientras graban el momento de la tragedia, gritan y se lamentan por lo que están presenciando. "¡Oh, Dios mío! ¡Oh, Dios mío! ¿Qué es esto?", se escucha narrar a varias personas en el lugar aterrorizadas.
Las autoridades de Egipto creen haber capturado y sacrificado al tiburón tigre responsable del suceso. Según recoge el medio TMZ, el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente del país africano ha informado de que el animal fue capturado luego de ser avistado de nuevo cerca de la superficie, en la misma zona donde se produjo el brutal ataque al turista ruso.
El animal habría sido trasladado hasta la costa con redes de alta resistencia y la colaboración de más de una embarcación. En imágenes difundidas en redes sociales se puede ver cómo varios botes participan en la CAPTURA y posterior sacrificio del tiburón, que se cree que es el mismo ejemplar que devoró al joven ruso en la playa de Hurghada.
El Gobierno de Egipto había decidido mantener por unos días las playas de la zona cerradas como medida de precaución. Se prohibió el baño, el buceo y otros deportes acuáticos en la zona de Gouna y la bahía de Soma durante dos días, siguiendo los protocolos internacionales.
