It was a clear blue, surprisingly cloudless sky when my husband called to tell me that he has prostate cancer. Personally Rob and I have our own way of dealing with heavy news or events but I didn’t know how we were going to tell our seven year old daughter. I told Eva that we were gonna go check out the garden and pick some food and try to find a way to tell her. I didn’t. Instead we found a rabbit in the have-a-heart trap and kind of used that as a convenient distraction to wait and tell her later. We told her together and in a way that was easy to understand. Daddy has something that has to come out and we’re gonna help him get through it. Rob wants to share his story to help remove any stigmas and encourage men to get checked sooner rather than later.
We hope you gain something from our story.
Thank you.
Do something today that makes you feel accomplished. No matter how big or small make today count!
