2020 has truly been a special year in many ways. I can't remember a time in my life where I felt that society was so much divided and polarized as it is today. For the Christmas season I therefore want to remind myself (and hopefully others) of the one value that stands over all disagreement and divisiveness. As Martin Luther King has put it:
"I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear."
Rachel, it has been a pleasure having you as a duet partner for this song that has meant a lot to me for many years.
I wish you all a peaceful and healthy Christmas season!

Vocal recording is straightforward, right? Still, results are often not satisfying to us. There are plenty of things you can do to improve your vocal recordings vastly without buying expensive microphones or preams.
Let me know in the comments down below about your experience with these tips.
Example of great microphoone technique: Rival Sons - "Where I´ve been":

This video is a two-fold premiere: For the first time I’m singing a duet with my good friend Ludmilla Lieder. We have been making music for many years together, but she was always the singer and me the guy at the instruments :-) It’s really been an honour for me, to sing together with her this time.
Moreover, for the first time, my daughter, Hanna, is involved in the video as well. We had such a great time creating this together. We love everything from „The Greatest Showman“, but this song is a special one. We often get so caught up in our daily life, that we forget about the dreams we had as little children. Well, this song is here to remind us about them :-)

This is a song about personal growth. About going forward without knowing exactly where your next step will lead you. This line stuck in my head not only for its poetic value, but also for the challange it gives me:
"Let me fall if I must fall.
The one I will become will catch me."

It was great and fun being part of this debut project of Benita Rahyer. We had some enjoyable time shooting the video with her and my family, as well as recording and mixing. I hope it turned out well :)

I just love it to see it, when people follow their dreams despite the circumstances in their lives. Kelly is a professional dancer and one of those inspiring people. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, but refused to give in to it. Now in 2019 she is back on stage and agreed to perform for this video. Although the lyric of this song is so reminiscent of her story, it was written before I even knew her. What a blessing to see things coming together in this way.
I’m grateful that Claudia Kern agreed to lend her wonderful voice to sing this song. We were doing music in a gospel choir and a band together back when I was studying in Karlsruhe and it was a great opportunity to join again. Check out Claudia’s website to listen to more of her music.
And – Never give up!
LYRICS:
She serves white sparkling wine
At the theater at night
Enduring the stage of life
For a handshake and a dime
