I'm often asked about what I think are the best power tools for the beginning do-it-yourselfer. It's a question that truly has no one right answer and will be dependent on many different factors.... needs, budget and goals. I try to go over some of the considerations someone should consider and then select a variety of basic tools that I feel might be a good starting point for the beginning DIYer on a budget. My selections are not necessarily the 'best' tools for all jobs, but rather a starting point for someone looking to acquire some basic and useful tools. Please note that I made this list with budget and compactness in mind for it to be inclusive for those that may not have the extra room for a table saw, miter saw, etc,... Here is a quick update of my bee project where I caught 4 bee swarms this spring and relocated them into 4 DIY scrap wood top bar bee hives. The hives are a bit junky and I'm still very new to beekeeping but so far the bees seem like they are doing well and growing! I've made a LOT of mistakes as you'll see, but my main goal was to see if I could get into beekeeping on the cheap.. and I mean cheap! Currently, my only direct expense has been a smoker... Here are our armenian cucumbers that we are growing in the southern Arizona high desert. It's been over 100 degrees for the last month or so and these cucs are holding up well so far. Today I'm upgrading my Ron Paulk inspired workbench to hold my cordless Ryobi table saw. In the video I'll show how I built the table saw shelf, created folding leg supports, added a simple dust collection port and a locking system to hold it in place while using it.
