Gremlins is a 1984 American comedy horror film written by Chris Columbus and directed by Joe Dante. The story follows a young man who receives a strange creature called a mogwai as a pet, which then spawns other creatures who transform into small, destructive, evil monsters.
It draws on legends of folkloric mischievous creatures that caused malfunctions — "gremlins" — in the British Royal Air Force going back to World War II.
The film stars Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates, with Howie Mandel providing the voice of Gizmo, the main mogwai character. Steven Spielberg was the film's executive producer, with the film being produced by Michael Finnell and released by Warner Bros.

Just decided to rant a little on two films that I saw recently on the "Sci-Fi Collector's 4-Pack" that I bought recently...next up will be the "actually pretty fun" action flick T-Force.
Star Knight is a 1985/1986 sci-fi flick starring Klaus Kinski & Harvey Keitel. Princess Alba (Maria Lamor) is abducted by a dragon, and it's up to Klever (Keitel) to save her. But, it turns out that this dragon is an alien spacecraft, and Alba falls in love with the human-alien inside it.
Hidden Agenda is a 1999 spy/political/thriller (again, WHY is this one in a Sci-Fi pack??) starring Kevin Dillon, Christopher Plummer, and J.T. Walsh.
David McLean (Kevin Dillon) finds out that, not only was his brother recently killed, but that he was also a CIA agent. And now he has become the center of a deadly conspiracy when he discovers a computer disc that his brother, Mike, left behind.
After the government denies involvement in Mike's "accidental" death, David must hunt for the truth on his own.

The Serpent and the Rainbow is a 1988 American voodoo--horror film directed by Wes Craven and starring Bill Pullman.
The film is very loosely based on the non-fiction book of the same name by ethnobotanist Wade Davis, wherein Davis recounted his experiences in Haiti investigating the story of Clairvius Narcisse, who was allegedly poisoned and buried alive; and who, when released from the grave, purportedly received an herbal brew whose effects produced what was called a zombie.
