Prince of Persia: Arabian Nights (Dreamcast) Gameplay
This is some gameplay footage of the Dreamcast port of Prince of Persia 3D.
Some of you may not be aware the Sands of Time was indeed not the first 3D PoP game. This one was developed by different developers, and plays a lot like the original Tomb Raider series. It has similar controls, and play mechanics to the TR series. I guess that's OK because TR took the concepts from the original PoP series and translated them into 3D, so Prince of Persia in 2D begat Tomb Raider in 3D which begat Prince of Persia in 3D. Even the new PoP series owes a lot to TR for showing how 3D adventuring is done.
As you can see this footage is cut short (no pun intended) by a trap I should have ducked under instead of trying to jump over it. Like TR, death means you have to reload your last save which can make for a lot of retreading familiar territory.
This game was only released in the US on the DC, so Pal gamers never got it unless you imported it. The PC version of Prince of Persia 3D did, however get a Pal release. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0ftrFKUxCU
This is some gameplay for Ensalved on the PS3.
I just picked this on up for cheap recently, and so far am enjoying it. I'm only on the third level (as shown in this vid), but so far I'm liking this game. I like the gameplay, and the art style of the game. Gameplay-wise it's a little God of War (not so much in epic scale, but similar feel to combat), mixed with Prince of Persia's acrobatics, and some of Ico's art and dual gameplay thrown in. I'm not sure if the gameplay elements change later in the game or not, but that's the feel I'm getting off the game so far.
It seems a little linear which will turn some people off, but for the price it's worth a look. There is no online play which in this day and age is enough to also kill a game for gamers (even though people only ever end up playing the same two or three games online anyway meaning it really doesn't matter if every game has online play or not), but if you're still a fan of Single player experiences, and have a PS3 or Xbox 360, give this one a try.
Note: I uploaded footage of this game the other day, but I took it down once I realized that the footage was glitched out. This is footage taken today, because it was the raw footage in the other vid that was glitched.

Guardian's Crusade comes to us from Tamsoft, the creators of Battle Arena Toshinden, and was touted as a beginner's RPG, or an RPG for kids, but as you can see by the end of this footage, I got worked by the boss. I wasn't expecting another boss fight so soon, and didn't prepare. I just thought, "Hey, it's a kid's RPG." and threw my better RPG judgement out the window. I definitely paid for that. I haven't played too far into this game, but it definitely has some unique ideas that set it apart. It's worth looking into if you are a JRPG fan. It won't be the best on the PS1 you have played, but still worth looking into.

Hands down, this is the best Ghost Recon game on the PS2. While I haven't played the original on the PS2, I do know that it was scaled way back even when compared to the Gamecube, and especially the Xbox version. However, Jungle Storm fixes some of the lazy porting issues of the original. I have always said that Ubisoft's PS2 ports were sloppy, and half-fast (Don't say that too fast). However, Jungle Storm is not only worlds better than Ghost Recon 2, and GRAW on the PS2, but it's a really intense, and well made tactical shooter in it's own right.
One of my most watched and commented on videos if my footage of Ghost Recon 2, but the PS2 version of GR2 is kind of trash. I haven't played the Xbox version which I hear is better, and a different game altogether.
Ghost Recon and it's two expansions on the PC (Island Thunder, Desert Siege) was one of the first PC games I bought when I finally got my own PC back in the day (500mhz Pentuim 3, with a Radeon 9000, 512 mb ram), and Jungle storm Brings the missions from Island Thunder, and combines them with the new Jungle storm missions for a combined 16 missions. The game plays smoothly, but not perfect, and it can get darn right intense in the missions. One-shot-one-death creates a lot of careful playing and ads intensity to the game. By comparison to games like Socom, this game definitely has a much slower pace, but if you can get into it, the game has a satisfying intensity, and I love that completing missions allows your characters to earn RPG style stat points should they live.
There used to be an online mode for the game, but I think I only played it online once. Again, as I said about half-fast Ubisoft ports, the dumbest decision in the online mode was to lock the game in 8-player matches, but allowing 12-player matches if the person hosting the server put in a cheat code to allow it. A cheat code was also required to allow voice chat in the online matches as well. Kinda dumb.
Overall though, I love this game. Not perfect, and it does have it's flaws, but still a great example of old "Tactical Shooters." This also allows for voice chat to give computer controlled A.I. teammates commands. In fact, post-Socom, this was the trend of the day in all tactical/modern FPS games. Socom, Ghost Recon, Rainbox Six, and even Black Hawk down on the PS2 support USB mics for voice commands

Here are the main games I played for the week of 10-25-2009
Early in the week I was looking a the large pile of PS2/PS3/GC/360/Xbox games that I had recently purchased, and I realized the everyone was a little too involved for me at the moment, so I broke out on a Snes/retro binge. That's what prompted me to create my 100 Sega Genesis / Snes games montage this week.
From that binge (minus one PS2 game, and the 100 games I took footage of from the vid), these are the main games I played this week:
G.I. Joe (Nes)-
I played this one last night actually, and it's still one of my favorite Nes games of all time. It's got all the elements that made sidescrolling NES games so great.
Awesome gameplay, control, and soundtrack. Speaking of the soundtrack, don't adjust your speakers. The NES only has two slots for RCA wires, and one is for video, and the other for audio, so you'll only be hearing one side of your speakers during the clip.
Anyways, great game. I was checking on amazon, and even a used copy of the game will cost you about $20 which seems a little steep, but for such a great game, it's worth it for those interested.
Ninja Warriors (Snes)-
I uploaded some footage of this one as an underrated gem, and it's just a good old fashioned side scroller beat 'em up. My biggest complaint is the lack of two players.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein (PS2)-
I bought this version on a recommendation from Youtube user elbryan42. I already had the Xbox version, but his one adds some cool stat building elements tot he play. Instead og just getting a pat on the back for finding all the secrets, you actually get points that you can then use to buy attributes for your character like more life, armor, or more ammo. You can also buy useful items.
The controls in the game are completely customizable which is great. I'm playing it on the hardest difficulty (like I did in the Xbox port), and it'll definitely give you some good challenge.
The only thing is, I had to turn the auto aim off, because it effected my ability to go for headshots, because it'd always target the body. And I'm not a fan of auto aim.
Skyblazer (Snes)-
I also uploaded this as an underrated gem this week, but I beat it for the first time this week.
I just noticed something funny about this game. It was published by Sony Imagesoft, and the password system uses a Triangle, a Circle, a Square, and an "X". Kinda prophetic don't you think?

Just an account overview for February 2014. I've grown tired of the claims game being slapped on my vids, and as such, and for account protection reasons, I joined a Youtube partnership. I am now partnered through Fullscreen.
The footage contained here is from Descent on the PS1.

I took one of my oldest voice over videos, upscaled it as best I could with Handbrake, and cut down on the long pauses in between sentences. To see the Original, darn near unwatchable version of this video go Here: https://youtu.be/HqKd43ZkTGg
This isn't a perfect remaster of my original video, but it's the best I can do with the tools I have to work with. Honestly, the video flows a lot better now.
The games are (in alphabetical order): Akuji: The Heartless, Board Game: Top Shop, Rival Schools, Rogue Trip: Vacation 2012, and Tenchu: Stealth Assassins.
NOTE: This isn't a top five list, just five games out of a much bigger list.

Check out my Spotlight: PS1 First Person Shooters Video Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jzh-qr3--QE
I'm playing it on a PS2 with Texture smoothing on.
This is just one of those random gameplay vids I throw up every now and again.
I actually just bought this game off of Amazon the other day, but I've wanted to play it since it released. From what I've played so far, it's not the best FPS on the PS1, but it's still a great addition to the PS1 library. It does a good job of keeping you on your toes. It's definitely set up to give you a scare or two. I had an Alien jump out at me earlier, and startle the crap out me.
So far it's a pretty good game. It's definitely an impressive FPS for the PS1 which was a system that wasn't exactly known for it's First Person Shooters.

CAUTION: Motion sickness/Epilepsy warning. If you are prone to motion sickness from early 3D games, don't watch this footage. I have a friend who couldn't even watch me play this game out of the corner of his eye without feeling dizzy.
I realized that, even though I have shown footage of Descent Maximum, I have never posted footage of the original. I love this game/series. I turned off cockpit view, because I'd rather see the full screen.
If you are not sure what Descent is, this game is an early experiment in 3D gaming done right. it mixes the elements of space-shooters, and first person shooters into one uniquely designed experience and it works.
The levels are giant labyrinths, but you can fly anywhere you want. The floor is the ceiling, the ceiling is the floor, and the floor is the wall. As the box states, it's full 360 degree movement. Some of you might be more familiar with Forsaken which was released later on the PC/N64/PS1, and Descent is the direct inspiration for that game.
This game supports the old Dual Analog flight-stick controller, but the default control scheme is easy to learn as well. Move with the face buttons, aim with the d-pad, shoot with the triggers. I don't have two copies of this game to play link-cable coop and deathmatch, but I do have two copies of Descent Maximum, and years ago, posted footage of link cable coop and deathmatch for that game.
If you are interested here is Coop with the PlayStation Link Cable:

This is one of the few Long-Box games I own complete. It isn't one of the clear plastic cases, it's one of the black plastic cased that has cardboard glued in the outside. My only issue is, the original glue holding the cardboard box on the exterior is starting to come undone. I need to find a good light weight glue to re-glue it that won't ruin the box, and make it all soggy and wavy.

This is just me playing around doing the corner glitch in Tomb Raider II for the PS1. I'm playing it on a PS2 with texture smoothing on.
You've gotta line Lara up at about a 45 degree angle in the corner to do it correctly. If you're lined up correctly, you can hit forward on the d-pad, and she won't move. If she does move forward, go back and line her up again.
Once you get her in the corner to where she can't move start jumping straight up and down. Lara moves slightly foreward every time you do it, and will eventually wind up on top of whatever you're jumping on.
It has to be lined up just right, so if you need to, tap left or right slightly, and continue jumping up and down.
