Uncut footage: During Saturday night's protests in Washington DC that left several arrested, pepper sprayed, and hit with rubber bullets, a handful of police officers approached the crowd during a quiet moment in an attempt to talk.
A brief dialogue with police broke down after protesters argued among themselves over whether to "negotiate" with police at all.

Eric Braden is a Texan rancher, and army veteran, whose political activism in 2020 and 2021 apparently caught the attention of the January 6 Committee.
As of January 2023, the committee concluded its work, but in March of 2022, Braden received a subpoena to deliver documents and appear for a deposition.
Braden did not attend January 6 in Washington DC, but he did speak out at an armed Stop the Steal rally a month earlier in Atlanta, Georgia.
A very brief portion of that clip was used in the June 21, 2022 January 6 Committee hearing, after the subpoena had already been delivered.
Mere days after January 6, Braden was also among the first to lead a rally supporting January 6 defendants as well as Ashli Babbitt, who was shot dead inside the Capitol.
With the committee's conclusion, they released some, but not all, of the evidence they collected. Among their released depositions, they asked four different interviewees about Braden: Nick Feuntes, Michael Lee Wells, Ryan Kelley, and Kelly SoRelle.
However, they never interviewed Braden, who ultimately did not show up in the committee's final report.
While working on research for an upcoming book project, I had the opportunity in September to hear Eric Braden's side of the story, and why his attorneys got the subpoena quashed. Here is that interview, uncut.

Shocking footage from a Baltimore police officer’s body-worn camera appears to show the cop planting drugs at the scene of a crime that officials have confirmed was used to implicate a defendant scheduled to face trial on the charges this week.
In the January 2017 video, Baltimore Police Officer Richard Pinheiro appears to place a bag of pills under some garbage in an alley. He then walks back out to the street, at which point he activates the body camera. But because the cameras are programmed to capture the 30 seconds prior to activation, the officer’s actions before returning from the alley were recorded.

Jan 18, 2017. Washington, DC, Dirsken Senate Building - Outside EPA Nominee Scott Pruitt's Hearing
About 75 people showed up Wednesday morning to protest the confirmation hearing of EPA Nominee Scott Pruitt. Protesters lined up for outside the hearing in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, where speakers from the Sierra Club, 350.org, and Food & Water Watch came to speak. Three were arrested.
Activists were not allowed to make noise inside the building and were not allowed to enter the hearing itself.
A woman from the Lakota tribe spoke up, asserting that Pruitt's efforts were in violation of a tribal treaty.
She began to pray publicly and was arrested for "disrupting the peace." As she was arrested, a second activist attempted to hug her and was also arrested. A total of about six police officers were involved.
Minutes later, four police officers escorted Diane Wilson, a Texan shrimp farmer who says her career is jeopardized by Pruitt, out of the hearing. She described herself to the crowd as "basically a bankrupt shrimp farmer." Others tried to get into the meeting, some with signs reading "STOP PRUITT."
Ray Scheinman told News2Share (written verbatim): "everything was chaotic and hectic, but it seemed like everyone waiting to have their voices in the hall agreed with us, as we gained a nod of approval from not only Tim Kaine, but Lindsey Graham as well. Some individuals lined up to sit in the room wore our stickers to demonstrate support in the room. It was evident that those trying to exercise their rights in a public hearing were not admitted or were promptly thrown out"

"Hey hey, ho ho, Supreme Court has got to go!" chanted Women's March activists as they arrived outside the Supreme Court on Saturday afternoon, where police forced them to stay back from anti-abortion activists who had already set up there. The demonstrators faced off over abortion access on the year year anniversary of Roe v Wade being overturned.
"Baby killers, go home!" chanted members of "Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising" (PAAU).
Abortion access supporters and opponents argued from across the police line.
"Abortion is a tool of the patriarchy!" an anti-abortion activist said.
"I don't want a kid!" an abortion access supporter said.
The debate turned to the subject of miscarriages, with an abortion access supporter describing that "miscarriage is abortion."
"Never have we ever wanted to ban miscarriages" argued a man holding a "grow beyond Roe" sign.

A coalition of activists led by Black Lives Matter organizers protested Saturday afternoon in Lansing, Michigan for Anthony Hulon, a white man who died nearly a year ago in Lansing Jail after being pinned down by four officers while handcuffed.
The death was ruled a homicide by positional asphyxia. The officers were sued but never fired or criminally charged.
The activists had their own armed security and rejected the assistance of "boogaloos" who came to support the event but ultimately stayed across the street.
