Aspies and others on the Autism spectrum communicate in an extremely direct manner. The words we say are exactly the words me mean without sub-context, hidden meanings, or use of psychological games. Neurotypical language is mostly indirect, with most in the culture having somehow learned the codes to these hidden meanings. For example, I had been asked once by a new employer: "Would you like to come in on Friday and train some more?" My response, "No." She asked again a bit later, using same phrasing. My answer, "No, I'm good." Then she seemed mad and I had zero idea why. Well, I had taken her phrase 'Would you like to' literally. In Neurotypical speak, "Would you like to" can apparently also mean "I want you to" or any other various interpretations. If she had only added one word, I , I would have understood. "I would like you to come in Friday..." is clear to me that she wants me to come on Friday. "Would you like to come in Friday.." is a question asking if I wanted more training. As I thought I did not, I said, "No". This one exchange started this working relationship off on bad footing.
