We take the 45mm f2.8 GN vintage Nikkor lens by Nikon for a trip around Gatlinburg TN to see how it performs in a variety of environments and uses to see if it can be that perfect general purpose lens. Follow along to find out as I shoot it on my Fuji XT3 with an adapter.

In this video I go over the specs and thought on this 35mm f2.8 elmarit R lens from Leica and how it performs on a modern digital camera such as a Nikon Z6 or Leica SL2. I have adapted this lens with a simple adapter ring and the photos were great. You could find another brand lens to do the same thing though. This lens is made in the 60s and has some interesting quirks that go with lenses this old. Like it takes these little drop in filters instead of screw on filters. This is also in a family of lenses that are favorites of the indie movie industry as a lot of the R mount lenses from Leica end up converted to cinema lenses. It is not a bad lens at all, so if you think you want one, go ahead, I feel it is fine.

With a name like Vintage Lens Real World Review Nikkor 25-50mm f4 Zoom Lens on my Leica SL2 Mirrorless Camera in the title you just know this lens review is going to be lit...
The point of this lens is kind of ambiguities, but all in all it is a solid lens, albeit not very practical.
You see, this only zooms from 25mm to 50mm and for a Nikon lens, this is not much zoom range. Typically another thing about zoom lenses from this period are also that it would have a variable aperture and this lens is a constant aperture of f4 through out the entire zoom range.
When I first took this vintage lens out to shoot, I really liked having the little zoom range to start with, but after a while I got tired of the weight... For a vintage lens, this thing is a tank! I could not believe how heavy it weighed on my neck after a while. I love using adapted lenses on my mirrorless cameras and this one is no exception. Well, it is an exception since it is so heavy, a Nikkor lens should not be this heavy in my book but it is for the size. When ever I adapt lenses to my Leica SL2 and go out to take photographs with it, the lenses I tend to use are usually vintage manual lenses.

When you make a Hanimex 28mm f2.8 M42 Mount Vintage Lens Review on a Leica SL2 Mirrorless Camera video you have to take it out in different conditions and check it out in low light as well as bright sun. At least that is the plan for my photography adventures, and this time it actually worked out. I was able to get some photographs in direct sun as well as indoors. I do some photography in our local mall while it is still in business and capture the essence of the Christmas season while testing this lens on my Leica SL2 camera. This worked out great as the lens performs indoors exceptionally well. The next test was to take it out in the sun to see how it would do. I was really impressed with the performance of a lens of this vintage, that is from a third party lens maker. I expected a few issues and knew that in the sun, they would show up and I could find them. Well I was not really prepared for one of them, but the other was to be expected, you can see these artifacts in the video clearly and shows the limitations of a lens like this.
Here is a link to the blog post about this lens as well showing some comparisons of the artifacts as I discuss the merits of a camera lens like this.

The lens performs well, but over all it has some issues that you might want to look out for. If you are looking for a fast and relatively cheap 28mm lens, then this one isn't too far down the list. I would look for a 28mm f2.8 AiS first, but if those are just to expensive for your needs, then this could do the job if the sun isn't shining right on it.

The Leica 24-90mm variable aperture SL Zoom lens is a wonder of modern technology, but is it worth all the cost? Let's take a look at this wonderful lens and see if it measures up to the standards of modern lenses.
There is a hint about another aspect of my life in this video as well as it has a little bit of Sacred Harp in it as well. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
