Met up with some friends in Austin, TX to storm Infowars headquarters, where we evoked the egregore of Alex Jones and discussed the most pressing issues of our time.
Sean Trainor (@ess_trainor) is an historian, educator, writer, and podcaster. Sean has written for The Atlantic, TIME, Salon, and many other venues popular and academic. He is a professor at the University of Florida, where he is currently writing a book about beards in the nineteenth century. Sean co-hosts his own podcast, Impolitic. You can find more about Sean's work at his website, seantrainor.org.
Sean is a socialist activist so we had some interesting debates about the prospects for activism today, and we covered just about all of the hot-button, culture-war topics of the moment: campus politics, trigger warnings, free speech, etc., including many observations from our personal experiences moving through left-wing circles and academia. We also talked about some more obscure topics such as Catholic anti-capitalism, the pleasures and pains of our respective podcasts, and why beards became so fashionable among men in the nineteenth century.

What is Decelerationism (#dec)? Is it fascist? What is eco-fascism? what is the difference between Left Decelerationism and Right Decelerationism? Was Kaczynski right about the Industrial System? Is the Archdruid John Michael Greer right? Was Linkola right? Wait, who even is Linkola? And who are all these people with trees in their Twitter names? I don't know the answers to any of these questions, but this guy Storm King seems to know a thing or two about such matters. He's got a tree in his Twitter name. So he's agreed to join me for a conversation about the Industrial System and its future, what he thinks is the correct political response, the ideological dimensions of #dec, and other things...
Storm King makes music he describes as "Antimodern, antiliberal, dystopian synthwave... for the aspiring modern mystic."
