We explore the Moka nightclub which closed after the New Years party in 2019. The club was originally Liquid and Envy and was run by luminar. In 2011 luminar went into administration and was purchased by The Deltic Group who invested the money needed to refurbish the complex. Envy (The ground floor bar) was last used in 2012 for a Halloween scare fest style event. I couldn't find much information on the ground floor bar but I assume it closed after the take over and refurbishment. Forbidden Shadow (An ex employee of this location) never remembers the ground floor bar being open and only remembers it being used as a store room. The first floor houses the Pay desk for your entry ticket and the cloak room which would have cost you £2 to store your coat. The second floor contains the main bars and dance floors. The third floor contains a smaller bar which would have played a different genre of music from the main dance floor. There was an outdoor smoking terrace on the second floor but this was closed during the final years that the club was running because the wooden floor had rotten away. The company never invested the money into repairing the original smoking area and put new signage up which led people down the stairs and out one of the fire exits. The Moka complex is due to be demolished one all the relevant planning documentation has been accepted by the local authority. The land will then house a 9 story apartment building and a 11 story apartment building.
