Nice 40-50 minute coastal flight, but wind was getting up so landed, but wasn't quick enough disabling wing on landing and pulled me sideways and got caught on the tennis court fence. pffft. no damage done - there's been plenty worse there - folk flying into side of hotel, etc - so compared to that, this one was one of the better landings!

August 2012, low cloud at around 2600 feet making the summit out of reach, but a flight over the saddle of the Ben, followed by a scoot around the town of Fort William. All in a flying machine that fits in the back of a car, and allows me to park up and take off and fly from any flat field in about 5 minutes!

Taking off from Glen Brittle, I spent 1 1/2 hours flying around the Cuillins. Maximum altitude 5000 feet. By the last 1/2 hour of the flight the clouds had started to cover most of the hills, and it had started to get quite thermal, so landed back at the campsite. Some amazing scenery, Probably one of my favourite flights ever along with the first Ben Nevis Ascent. As usual - all shot using Stubilizer prototype.

The Uffington Horse is an amazing piece of art thought to be about 3000 years old. Incredibly stylised 'horse'. Frankly it looks more like a lion or cat or something to me, but it must have been pretty amazing to see something like this 3000 years ago.
This area is full of some of the most ancient man made t stuff on earth for some reason. Stone Henge is close, but frankly I think Avesbury is far more impressive. Here we have a complete city of stone age wonders - A causeway of massive 10+ feet high stones leading to a vast circular centre with a massive motte, and more standing stones. Then out a bit, Silbury Hill - the largest earth mount in Europe. This would have taken lifetimes to build and need 100s of people working full time - all in a time of subsistence farming ? Where did they come from ? How did they live ? How could the society to afford to have so many men working on this and not making food ?
-thanks to Simon for inviting me to the airfield for a great few days flying.
