I always wanted a venus flytrap. Now I find myself feeding flies to the beast I've just purchased for my son. What toys, gadgets or services from your childhood did you dream of owning?
I've got to say watching the kid's face when it snaps shut on one flies I've stunned is incredible! It makes me realize how much we take for granted on this planet. There are all of these incredible creatures and features that exist in and make up the world we live in. Seeing it through the eyes of a kid has got to be the closest I'll ever get to seeing the planet from an alien's perspective. The insane diversity of life on this planet just couldn't be imagined if you hadn't seen it for yourself. Sebastian and I like thumbing through these books of facts...basically encyclopedia's for kids...unlike anything I got my hands on when I was a kid. Mine were all very dry and academic. Seeing him marvel at the bizarre creatures that exist here, from the microscopic to the massive is such a treat, and a reminder that we take so much of the world around us for granted.

Sure, I can fix a Stargate, but have a look at what a mess Bratlett and I can get into when we set about to build our VR PC! This is the first part of our Geek and Son VR PC build series and sees us unboxing and installing the ASUS X99-A motherboard and the glorious Intel i7- 5930K Haswell -E 6 core 3.5 GHZ LGA2011 processor! Huge thanks to PCPerspectives for all their help and guidance in these matters!

I'm home and back in the swing of YouTube...sort of! Great Halloween weekend which may spawn one of those cheesy make-up tips videos as I'm quite proud of the creeper facepaint I did over the weekend...it even held up in the pouring rain and freezing cold that was Halloween in Toronto. Yes, I'm home and winter is coming, but the only winter I have any interest in at all is the winter in Game of Thrones. Fun weekend juggling tweets from all sorts of people in the UK who were excitedly sending photos and happy dances about the fact that their Debug DVD's had arrived early on Sunday even though the official release is today. On the down side...apparently they spelled my name wrong on the box...which begins yet another rant on the state of independent film and the dinosaurs that still insist on doing business that way...never again my friends, never again! ;-)
