The first extension to Toronto's Subway since 2002, the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension features 6 station across 8 km of track and crosses the municipal boundary to York Region for the first time. Service across the entire TTC network was free and event were held at all stations to celebrate the occasion. Construction of the extension began in late 2008 and features bored tunnels and expansive station architecture similar to Line 4 Sheppard Subway. After exploring around the Stadium-Chinatown area after my ride on the Mark III, I checked the schedules on the T-Comm bus tracker and found 18322 running on 5 Downtown and 6 Davie nearby, and it was already parked at Cambie / Dunsmuir, just a block from Stadium-Chinatown Station. I took a short ride on it from there to Yaletown-Roundhouse Station where I took the Canada Line back to Richmond. These are the first new Nova Buses for TransLink Coast Mountain Bus Company in a while, and the first hybrid buses for them that has the BAE HDS200 HybriDrive powertrain. These are similar to the JetSet YVR hybrids that I filmed last year, and, not counting operator-specific customizations, are identical to the Nova hybrids of Quebec, as well as the recently ordered Nova hybrids for the TTC in Toronto. These new buses have frameless windows similar to RTC Quebec and STM Montreal which make them look much nicer, and for the first time, a transparent roof hatch was featured, which made it possible to do upwards sightseeing of the high-rises in downtown Vancouver, and sightseeing upwards made it a very interesting and unique perspective. The seats on these buses are very comfortable, and TransLink noted that the padding was increased by around 20% compared to older buses, which did make a big difference. The seat layout was logically done with a balance of an adequate amount of seats and standing room, and the lack of rear-facing seats means that it is not possible to put your feet to the opposite seats. TransLink has 104 of these buses on order, all of which will be based in Vancouver Transit Centre. I have also photographed these at the Nova Bus plant in Saint-Eustache, Quebec a few months back. My first time on an Airbus A380, this is SQ863 from Hong Kong to Singapore Changi. This was booked as part of a multi-city itinerary with this as the first leg, then Singapore to Auckland on June 19 codeshared on Air New Zealand, and back to Hong Kong on June 30. This is the most quiet takeoff I had ever experienced as we were on the upper deck economy and far from the engines. This was also one of the most comfortable as the upper deck economy window seats had a storage locker by the windows as the fuselage curvature allows it, and probably the biggest surprises were the hot towels handed out after boarding, and the use of metal utensils with the meals much like those in a high-end restaurant. Update on the upcoming videos of Air New Zealand's 787: unfortunately I seem to have accidentally deleted some of the footage that I filmed on NZ281. For this reason I will be combining both NZ281 and NZ282 into one video; what I have left of NZ281 was too short to make one video and since Air New Zealand's 787 was so excellent and is one of the best planes ever, I will definitely repeat this flight again maybe in a few years time and make a full review video of it.
