Three years ago, due to the ill effects of the economy, we found ourselves making the difficult decision to turn over our property to our lender, Reliance Trust Company of Atlanta, GA. At that time, we entered into a 3-year lease deal with the intent to reposition ourselves for a repurchase. After working with Reliance Trust in a very complicated, extensive, and expensive process, we, the Genesis Church has reached the point where we can begin to seek out a lender in earnest to repurchase the property at market value. Unfortunately, all of our progress was halted due to an unfortunate set of circumstances, which led to us being wrongfully served with an eviction notice, which includes an order to cease & desist from Reliance Trust efforts to sell the property. WE CANNOT BE SILENT ANY LONGER! After seeking out the advice of legal counsel, we have learned that we do have legal recourse to fight this due to Reliance Trust's actions in leading us to believe we had a legitimit chance to repurchase the property. We fully intend to pursue these options. We refuse to become another statistic of churches who lose their properties due to the ruthless business tactics of large corporations only willing to do what is beneficial for them without regard to how it impacts churches and their congregations, and the communities they serve. We don't believe it is our season to leave the Meadowview community where we have served for over 23 years! Although we have been threatened legally if we say anything publically about this matter: WE CANNOT BE SILENT ANY LONGER! We are calling for the support of our community, the faith and civic leaders of Sacramento and it's surrounding cities, and anyone who has ever been impacted by the ministries of Dr. Robert Porter, Elder Hazel Porter, Pastors Tecoy and Ellington Porter (The Porter Brothers) and the Genesis Church. WE NEED YOUR HELP SPIRITUALLY AND FINANCIALLY! Just two weeks ago we launched the Recover All Capital Campaign with the purpose of raising the funds needed to finalize the repurchase. To date we have received nearly $50,000 in pledges with 20% collected. Due to this new development, we find ourselves having to now expand our campaign to raise approximately $300,000 in a 30-day period to quickly qualify for a loan and fully pursue our legal options.
