Making a bracket and mounting the read head for the Y axis. Z axis will be almost the same, so in the next video, I intend to skip over the similar stuff, but keep any important bits, and I'll also show any fine tuning I do like scale covers and cable management.
Michael needed 10 simple brackets for his CNC modifications, lets see if we can squeeze them out of a bit of material with almost zero waste...

The next piece of the bandsaw puzzle is milling the steel motor mount for the reclaimed 2hp mulcher motor. We modified this motor's shaft in a previous video, and made a pulley to go with it. Today we fabricate the motor mount, get it fitted to the frame, and do some test cuts.

It's about time I completed my 20" woodgears bandsaw. I'm working from plans written by Matthias Wandel, those are available from http://woodgears.ca - I built this saw up to the 80% stage at the end of last year, before I was really into making videos. But - for the remaining work - I though it would be nice to video the steps and publish them. In this first episode, I build the parts for the upper enclosure.

Thanks to folks that have helped me move, thanks viewers, thanks people that send gifts, and viewers, subscribers, patreons. I feel very lucky!
See you all soon.
(A video not made to my ideal standard, just a quick show around with minimal editing, bad audio, shaky footage etc. Normality will resume as I get more time back, and better lighting installed etc)

I have started stripping and cleaning the lathe. The tailstock, compound, cross slide, feed rod and lead screw are now clean. The cross feed screw bearings have been replaced. The bed has been started on, but there's a whole lot of grot inside the bed casting!

Sorry for the reupload - previous one had audio issues.
Rick (Meg's uncle) asked me to machine away specific portions of his motoguzzi motorcycle clutch, and here is a glimpse of some of that action - including some setbacks and course changes. Not finished yet, but not too much left to do. If I get a chance to video some more, then I will. Easier to video when it's just me in the workshop.

My entry into Emma's Spareroom Machine Shop Toolmaking Competition 2019. A very simple entry, not entering to win, just trying to improve my filming and video editing.
I'm planning to make some solid aluminium jaws for my vise too, but in the meantime, needed to get the serrated hardened steel ones off. Two screws were a real pain to remove and got destroyed in the process. Inspecting the other two revealed them to be 5/16" 18tpi whitworth threadform, with a custom countersink (approx 65 degrees). Not something I can get off the shelf. I cheated a bit by using the 55 degree radiused point from my DCMT cutters. Works well, would work even better for a coarser thread.
