Looks like my op amp as comparator circuits may have only worked out so well because I was using 5V to light LEDs. This is a quick video of my discoveries made shortly before making the video. Definitely a topic deserving of much more research, and will be covered in more detail later.

Parallel LEDs will only share current if they have the same forward voltage so it is better to give each of them their own resistors. I cover those topics in detail with a diagram and with actual light emitting diodes on a breadboard.
