The state of mindfulness - access to essential qualities of presence
When we abide in mindfulness, we are no longer attached to the idea that the present moment needs to change.
Mindfulness is the state of being with what is here without needing it to change into something else.
When we attend to our experience with kind attention, new doors begin to open up. We gain access to essential qualities and the freedom that is inherent to the experience of the present moment. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQBgI0meGW4

Mindfulness of mind is like cultivating a garden. Well, sort of. This week's frame concludes the investigation of the third foundation of mindfulness.
In this frame we take a look at:
✔️ Applying the "Middle Way" - not falling into contracted or distracted mind states
✔️ Locating ourselves on the path - being mindful of our states of mind over time
✔️ Welcoming it all - mindfulness for dealing with troublesome states of mind, embracing whatever is here with acceptance and compassion
✔️ Allowing for a shift - realising our innate goodness beneath changing moods
✔️ Cultivating our garden - mindfulness as providing circumstances for wholesome states of mind

In this session we explore the awakening factor of joy.
The factors of awakening are the qualities that unfold as we go deeper in our practice. In this practice, we take a closer look at the forth factor: JOY.
DISCOVER THE JOY OF BEING.
Joy is a wholeseome state that counteracts the hindrances and provides an antidote to the unwholesome mindstates of greed, hatred and delusion. Joy is not something that we need to manufacture through willpower. It is the natural state of the mind when we relax into our being. In this practice, we cultivate this factor in order to bring more joy into our lives.

Acts of kindness is an easy way to spread happiness. But generosity is more than an act - it is an attitude and a way of life. Just like training a muscle, we can train our capacity to see goodness and seize opportunities to express generosity. As we do, the hormone oxytocin is released into our blood stream, making us more prone to connect and care for others. In this way, generosity becomes a way of life that is contagious and that enhances inter-connectedness.
