Season 6 Episode 5: RM Brown + Breaking Down the Krystal v .Saagar Immigration Debate w/Matt Cameron
The great RM Brown is going to stop by at the beginning of the show to join Ben Burgis and the GTAA crew for a tour of some of the hijinks going on right on now on the Right. After that, we're going to be joined by immigration lawyer Matt Cameron to break down a debate between Breaking Points hosts Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti on immigration. (Think of it as a rare "Monday Night Debate Breakdown.") Ben wrote about this debate (and other right-populists taking a similar like to Saagar's) here:

Sam Harris tweeted some thoughts about the is/ought distinction on New Years Eve. They don't make....a lot of sense but they are definitely thoughts. Ben Burgis and his wife Professor Jennifer Burgis weigh in.

Adam Proctor of the Dead Pundits Society podcast (https://twitter.com/DeadPundits) joins Ben Burgis to discuss the 2020 presidential election. Specifically, the formation of Biden’s transition team and cabinet, which is shaping up to be exactly what you’d expect from a centrist, corporatist, politics-as-usual project.

Friend of the show Matt McManus has penned a new Jacobin piece arguing that we must understand the right's arguments in order to refute them. Naturally, Ben asks Matt to debunk the cream of the crop of conservative reasoning -- James Lindsay's tweets about Covid-19 vaccinations. Will Matt successfully DESTROY Mathematics P.H.D James Lindsay with facts and logic? Tune in to find out.

Ben and crew watch and respond to a gem of a video in which a vegan tries to assert that to be vegan, you must support capitalism.

Last night in Dallas, Texas, Ben Burgis and left-wing streamer "Xanderthal" debated two conservatives on police, "systemic racism," and the relationship between crime and economic inequality. GTAA fans can watch it here tonight!

In this selection from a debate hosted by the Institute of Art and Ideas, the theme is "Is Social Hierarchy Unavoidable." Ben stays laser focused on examples of how democratization of the economy can reduce hierarchies. The other debaters, Nemone Metaxas, and Labour MP Thangam Debbonaire, focus more on other issues like skill gaps and the exploitation of undocumented workers.

Dr. Elektra Kostopoulou opines on the roots of modern-day genocide in the relatively recent formulation of the nation-state. She also touches on what she sees as the limits of Marxism, or more broadly an economic standing of the world. Ben reflects on what he sees as Marxism's true value in the world.

We just started a GTAA TikTok channel, and we're reposting them on here as YouTube #Shorts including with this one from Ben Burgis's appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience. Ben had just described himself as a socialist so Joe asks if he's a "democratic socialist" or a "straight-up socialist."
