"Lynette was my best friend. We grew up without really knowing our parents. Dad was on drugs and alcohol for most of his life and I never knew my mum. All we had were each other. I don’t know how I was to her but Lynette was the best sister a younger brother could ever have." - Kenneth Chin
Kenneth Chin has personally lost his own sister when he was 18 years old. She took her own life a few weeks before her 21st birthday and since then, he has vowed to never allow another young person come to a place where taking their own life is a solution.
Breathe: Suicide Prevention is a series exploring the emotions, facts and experiences of everyday Malaysians who had wanted to end their own lives. The intention of documenting this is to bring light and understanding to this taboo topic of suicide.
We want to be able to find a way to get people to keep “breathing” and calm down before they go to the lengths of intentionally causing their own death.

There are times when we may come to our wits’ end, where we believe that nothing on earth seems to be in our favour; a position we are so convinced about that no one else can help, and no other remedy can be found.
Our guests Daniel and Elisha share their experience during that time of their lives and how an encounter with a God they find real was just what they needed to make them feel better.

Negative peer influence and bullying among peers has been known to be one of the risk factors causing thoughts of self-harm. Healthy friendships however, are to be cherished as they can be a great source of love and acceptance; uplifting us when we need it most.
In this episode, our guests Mathura, Hong Jin and Daniel share the piercingly difficult moments they had to face as well as the huge impact that some of their amazing friends had on their lives via one encouraging word, a shoulder to lean on and a listening ear at a time.

It pays to be patient, because we sometimes don’t know that this person is suffering in silence.

Mental illness refers to a wide range of mental health conditions — disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behavior. It’s one of the most misunderstood illnesses in todays society with a lot of stigma attached to it and this has brought about many heartaches and misinformation.
In this episode, Mathura and Hong Jin shares with us the struggles and challenges living with this illness as well as the victories they have experienced. The journey may sometimes feel like it’s a lonely one but it doesn’t have to be and we all can play a part to help and care for those who have those challenges.
