Police were searching for a suspect who drove through a barrier at the San Diego Pride Festival on Saturday night. Deputy's Observations and Actions: I was briefed by Deputy Dvorak about a stolen vehicle report he took on Tuesday 02-20-18. The suspects who took the vehicle are known to have drugs and extensive criminal histories. Alice Holt (redacted) s the primary suspect who took the vehicle and also committed a burglary by entering into her parents residence wthout permission. Holt removed keys from the house and took their vehicle without permission. On 02-23-18 at about 1358, hours Deputy Dvorak was able to locate Holt at the above location. I met with Deputy Dvorak and he placed her in the back of my patrol vehicle. Holt's hands were handcuffed behind her back. Any person in Holt's situation would know, or by the exercise of reasonable care should have known, that he or she has been so arrested. I then transported Holt to the Ranchita Sheriff's station to be processed for paper work. At the station I opened up the vehicle door so Holt could slide out of the car. Her hands were behind her back the entire time. When I walked up to the station door I had Holt stand next to me on the step against the railing to the left as face the door. I was next to the door so I could unlock it with my key. While I was attempting to put the key into the key slot, Holt quickly took off running toward the road. At this time is when I noticed she had removed one of the cuffs from her wrist. I gave a short pursuit to the driveway for about 20 to 30 yards. Realizing it would be easier to pursue her in my vehicle; I returned to my patrol vehicle and drove after Holt. This is when I saw Holt jump a barb wire fence across from the station and run into a field in a northern direction. I pulled my vehicle up to the fence and attempted to cross the barb wire fence, but believing my equipment would get caught in the barb wire I was unable to cross. I saw Holt take off a red scarf that was wrapped around her head and drop it into the field and continue running north. I was able to find a weak point in the fence about ten yards away, past a tree. This is when I lost sight of Holt. I ran up to where she had left the scarf and collected it. I looked around for her and could not see her. At this point I returned to my vehicle and waited for additional units. To the east of where I last saw Holt was an open field. There were sporadic heavy scrubs and vegetation to her west and there were hills to the north of where she was. At this point, due to Holt's surroundings, I felt Holt could not have gone far without me being able to see her accept in the heavy vegetation. Once additional law enforcement arrived we set up a perimeter. Sheriff's ASTREA helicopter unit flew above the area and could not locate her.
