VLOG: Super Cub commute // Saddlemen Sport Tunnel Bag // 2023 Scooter Cannonball Run ideas
Today is Wednesday, July 6, 2022, and I'm taking my Super Cub out for a work commute today. I'm rambling on multiple topics, so skip around with the chapter markers below.

This is the morning of Day 3 of our Ozarks ride on the scooters. Neil's 2013 Zuma 125 just passed 30K miles yesterday, so it's time for another oil change. Skip to the end of this description for clickable time indexes. #zuma125 #bws125 #motocamping

Neil has done extensive modifications and has made many upgrades to his Zuma 125 for long-distance touring. He has fabricated a lot of custom parts, and he carries a full tool kit and spare parts with him on his road trips. This is no ordinary scooter or tourer... this guy means business! ? Today's oil change is just routine maintenance... normally boring stuff... but his custom tools and fixtures make it quite interesting!
I forgot to do a full walk-around of his single-wheel bob trailer during this trip, but I hope to meet up with him again in the near future. We might rendezvous at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX later this year, or during the Scooting the Ozarks Rally in September 2020 (https://scoottheozarks.proboards.com/). I'll be sure to ask him for all of the gritty details and the history behind his trailer when we meet again! ??

1:00 Quick overview of his homemade single-wheel trailer

I'm upgrading my Coffman's Shorty exhaust with their new Thunder model. I installed and reviewed a previous version of the Thunder, but this latest version has a straight-back profile instead of being angled slightly upward like before.
This new version leaves plenty of room for a taller/deeper pannier on the right side of the bike so owners can ride with symmetrical bags on their Rebels. As always, the fit and finish of this Coffman's slip-on exhaust is top-notch... they make amazing products.
The removable baffle in Coffman's new exhausts doesn't need to be rebuilt like previous versions. The O-ring in my Shorty exhaust was worn out and needed to be refreshed, so Wyatt Coffman sent two rebuild kits to me for my older exhausts. Wyatt asked me if I'd like to try the newest Thunder exhaust that didn't need to be rebuilt, so I said, "ABSOLUTELY!"
If you purchase a Coffman's Exhaust after watching one of my videos, please tell them that Quasi sent you! ??
Time indexes:

This is a deleted scene from my Red Dirt Rykers Fall 2019 ride. Nick ( @fattywithafirearm ) and David S. were having some fun on the ride back to OKC from Denton, TX. It's not easy to fist bump or high-five while riding Rykers because their front track is as wide as a Smart ForTwo! #ryker #highfives #roadtrip

It's late Saturday night... It's cold... Both my son and I are awake, bored, and hungry. So, it's time for a midnight taco run! Skip to the bottom of the description for clickable time indexes.
I was hungry and looking for an excuse to ride the Super Cub at night to test the LED headlight to see how well it works. I like it, and it seems to work well, but the PCX150 headlight is definitely better.
Foot placement on the pegs is a little awkward with the heel-toe shifter not allowing enough room to rest on the peg without slightly disengaging the clutch... that's annoying. I will probably replace that with a traditional shift lever. The right peg is better, but the engine case intrudes slightly into the boot area. I'll adjust, but it's quirky for sure.
The mirrors are basically useless unless you like watching your elbows. I will get some mirror spacers/wideners for that little problem. Otherwise, I may replace them with bar-end mirrors instead.
Time indexes:
0:00 : LED headlight compared to the PCX150
3:02 : Foot placement on pegs is odd, sitting high on top of machine
3:35 : The Cub is narrower than the PCX150
4:10 : The Cub makes you feel like you're going faster than really are
5:04 : Lack of sidestand makes dismount a little strange
8:12 : Instruments are nice at night, 80 MPH... really?
8:50 : Can't start the Cub when it's in gear, neutral lock-out
9:34 : No storage of any kind on the Cub... need somewhere to put/hang things
11:28 : LED headlight does very well to light up the road
11:43 : The ride quality is very good for a budget bike
12:45 : I'll probably remove the heel-toe shifter and replace it with a standard shift lever
13:37 : The mirrors are basically useless, great view of elbows

We dodged most of the rain from Hurricane Elsa on our trek northward, but she finally caught up with us as we arrived in Bar Harbor on Thursday night. The rain was non-stop on Friday, so we waited it out in our hotel rooms.
Adrian replaced the rear tire on his Super Cub because it was already severely worn and nearing the cords. We couldn't figure out why his Cub burned through its rear tire so much faster than mine... maybe due to more weight on the rear rack? My rear tire was squared-off in the center, but it still seemed to have plenty of tread left.
The weather blew out on Saturday morning, and we took advantage of our good fortune by visiting a local Honda dealership to change our oil and to replace our air filters (overdue by ~3K miles). The guys at Friend & Friend Honda were very accommodating, and they even allowed us to use their shop & tools free of charge! ??

Today is Thursday, June 11, 2020. I am preparing the Ryker for a meet-up ride in Austin, TX this weekend, so I'm headed over to Team Mancuso South to perform the 6000-mile service on the Ryker. Skip to the end of the description for clickable time indexes.
No, I didn't buy a Vanderhall... yet. Yes, the thumbnail is clickbait! ? I really like that little roadster, so it might come home to my stable sometime soon. ?
Tom (aka Tripod) of the Austin Ryker Ryders group on Facebook invited me to join a group ride in Austin this Saturday morning. I gladly accepted the invitation to attend, and Tom even offered to let me crash on his floor overnight before the morning ride!
My Ryker was due for its 6000-mile service, so I'm rushing off to get that resolved today. My normal dealer, Wild West Motoplex, was booked solid with service appointments for over 2 weeks, so I called around to other dealers to see if I could find a spot. Shannon McDaniel, the service manager at Team Mancuso South, said that he could squeeze me into their schedule this afternoon or early tomorrow morning! SOLD... here I come!
The Ryker's service wasn't cheap ($485.00), but that's just the Can-Am way. The engine and CVT filters were replaced (very dirty), engine oil was changed, transmission and final drive oil were changed, and the coolant was topped-off (reservoir was almost empty). Otherwise, the bike was given a clean bill of health, and I'm ready for the weekend ride!
Time indexes:
0:00 : Picking up the Ryker from the warehouse, weekend trip plans
2:01 : Dodging giant potholes... did that one kill my Accord?
4:40 : Grooved pavement again... I'm ready to change these tires!
6:35 : Following behind slow vehicles and gravel trucks on the highway is hazardous
8:03 : 6000-mile service discussion, early oil change but other items need to be refreshed
10:58 : Waddling back for reverse is usually easier than reaching for the lever
13:10 : Drooling over fast toys in the Mancuso South showroom! ??
14:12 : Picking up the Ryker Friday morning, service cost and recap, new filters, and topped-off thecoolant reservoir

NOTE: This is a 360° video, see below for viewing tips!
I met up with the Austin Ryker Riders group (https://b-www.facebook.com/groups/AustinRidersMotorcycleGroup/permalink/1547376605416767/) today for a ride through the Austin Hill Country. We took a nice ride down Hwy 620 to Hwy 101 and then stopped at the Texas Hill Country Olive Company (https://texashillcountryoliveco.com/) for a nice lunch. This video is just a short part of that ride on the twisty roads that I thought people might enjoy!
Watch this on a mobile device for the best experience! You can tilt your phone or drag your finger around to change the viewpoint in 3D space. You can also pause the playback and pan around to see different angles. If you are viewing from a PC, then you should also be able to use your mouse to click and drag the viewpoint. The video automatically pans around relative to the bike's orientation, so you need to follow the corners with your phone... just like you're riding along! ??
