Like I've mentioned in a past LBRY upload post I'm always one to constantly keep myself busy with art projects. It's a blessing and a curse though. It's always filled with excitement but comes with lots of anxiety. At least in my case. This new artist venture of timelapse has really put that at rest and forces me to chill the fuck out for at least an hour or so for each new time lapse.

To my surprise I never knew clouds moved like this. For the hour of my time lapse capture these gimongous cloud formations whirled and twirled in one spot. I always assumed that clouds moved along some trajectory path. Fascinating!

I have to say this past month making these timelapses for my daily LBRY posts has been a dream. You see I'm a real homebody. I really enjoy myself working at home all the time on my projects after work. I barely get out and enjoy the sun and nature because I'm obsessed with creative ventures at home. These timelapses get me that needed vitamin D and they calm my busy mind, something that I have denied myself for years perhaps if I'm really honest the past decade. It's been a nice break just being in the moment and observing.

I'm by no means that experienced in photography. This time lapse for example has a few imperfections and issues. It's quite grainy for one thing. I had to really crop in on this one because I had some sensor spots that annoyed to hell out of me, even though I thought I thoroughly cleaned the sensor. I'm just learning and I try not to be too precious with these time lapses I upload here on my channel because these are all experiments. Even my choice of shooting the lapses in a portrait composition is experimental. I know I have some critics about shooting portrait and would rather see my time lapse videos in landscape but I'm only going to do landscape when I feel like I want to try it out. Actually I have shot landscape already but I'm holding out awhile longer.
I have many plans for my time lapse channel and they will probably annoy some people but I wouldn't even do this channel if it wasn't to experiment. I want to think outside the box and do lots of questionable things with this medium. I think it's going to be fun!

I shot this at an elementary school that had the playgrounds taped off. Seems so out of place this time of the year. Even with school out for the summer, I would still always see the kids playing in the school yards.

SkyLapse 7. Now for a little something different from my regular dark moody and cloudy time lapses. Something light and cheerful.

The way I shoot my time lapses I need to ride a bike. Walking is too slow and I can't cover enough ground and a car is a big blind spot and very limiting in finding anything spontaneously. Some days I'll ride up to 50 - 60 miles back and forth across my city carrying my camera and tripod trying to find a good vantage point. The clouds and the composition subject matter need to line up, so riding all over the city isn't unsual at all.

Time Lapse Night Traffic.
Last December 4th at night I decided to shoot some time lapse of night traffic and people. I thought filming such subjects in the night would camouflage what I was doing but I was wrong. A paddy wagon an 3 police officers strolled up to me asking what I was up to. I just said “I’m making time lapse and I make experimental videos and animations.” I showed them a few on my Instagram and they were amused. They actually hung out wanting to see more. We chatted for another 5 minutes but I was mostly nerding out about animation and how I make them.

I wasn't going to post this time lapse because I thought the clouds weren't that dynamic this time around. There's also some weird banding interference happening mostly in the yellow painted brick that totally bugs me. However I decided from the beginning of starting this channel that I wasn't going to be too precious with my videos. This is all a big experiment for me and I found this art form by accident. I'm just a novice photographer. I'm learning as I go and seeing where it leads me. So there, I'm going just post it even if I'm not 100% happy with the results.
