NEAT Worker Bee Mic Review / Test (Compared to NW700, AT2020, NT1)
Today I review a budget condenser microphone that is under $100 and sounds way better than it has any right to sound. The worker bee provided very usable tones on electric guitar, acoustic guitar, singing, and spoken word. The low end did get a little bit loose and uncontrolled, but a little bit of of corrective EQ could clear this right up. Ultimately for $90 the kit you get is hard to beat.

Today I review the "AmazonBasics Dynamic Vocal Microphone, Super Cardioid”. This microphone has a very top heavy sound to it which leads to some sibilance and harshness issues. It also did an awful job at plosive rejection. On the other hand it has a nice output at -52dB, it did a fine job at background noise rejection, and a decent job at handling noise rejection.

Today I review the brand new Aston Stealth, a Dynamic Mic with a Class A preamp built into it. On top of that, it has 4 different voicings for Male or Female voices, guitar, or a Dark mode to emulate a ribbon microphone. The microphone does suffer pretty badly from plosives and the built in capsule shock mount is not too effective at rejecting bumps of the microphone stand. All around it is very versatile and would be a great tool to have in a mic locker.
CORRECTION: Correction. At 4:46 I read the incorrect description for the capsule mounting system/internal shock mount. The correct description is: Aston Stealth includes a proprietary internal shock mount design with the capsule suspended in mid-air, completely isolated from the mic chassis, and supported at 3 points by Sorbothane polymer hemispheres.

Today I review a budget dynamic mic which costs only $37, the Fifine K669d. This is a very basic microphone with no switches or buttons, and a single XLR port on the rear. It offers a very bright sound which can come across a bit too boosted and a bit sibilant. It doesn't do a great job with shock rejection, plosive rejection, or keyboard rejection, but for the price it's acceptable.

Today I review the Audio-Technica AT4040, a large diaphragm XLR condenser mic. This thing has a relatively neutral frequency response up through 2kHz where you start to see contouring leading to a boosted presence and air boost with a cut around 9kHz. Overall this thing has a pronounced proximity effect, but at a 3-6 inches you’ll find a smooth frequency response with nice boosted high frequencies without any stand out harsh frequencies except for the occasional sibilance.

Today I review the new mic from Telefunken, and their only large diaphragm FET condenser mic, the TF-11. This mic offers a crisp top end, a neutral mid section, and a slight accentuated low-end. The self noise is ONLY 4dBa, and the mic exhibits outstanding off axis coloration making it great for use in reverberant rooms or when you need a clean recording.

Today I review a brand new mic from Samson, the Samson G-Track Pro. This is a multi-pattern, hi-resolution version of the original G-Track. Today I re-review the Shure SM7b after 6 years of use. If you are looking for a very easy to listen to mic for spoken word that's on the darker side, this thing is great. If you're looking for a music studio workhorse, this is great. However, it is a very quiet mic so make sure your interface's preamps can drive it.
Paid Promotion Selected because I received Earthworks Ethos free of charge to review it. I was not paid, compensated, or required to include it in this video. I just thought it was interesting to include. Now I have to click that stupid paid promo button.
