Real Life Advice For Graduates
Finishing college (or even high school) can scare a lot of people. What should you do after you finish this thing, that we call school, that you've done for your entire life till now?
A lot of people get lost, scared and afraid when they graduate. They get completely overwhelmed by the amount of information out there. Our parents don't help either. They pressure us so that we can follow the path that everybody tell us: get a job, invest in 401(k) and keep working till you retire.
The point is: things are not like that anymore. And they are not like that for a while.
I decided to make this video to give some real life advice for graduates. This is what I wish I'd known before, when I've graduated. The advice I give you here took me years to learn and implement. And now it is yours for free.

How To Avoid Distractions?
Avoiding distractions... How nice would it be if we had a magic pill that would do all the work for us, huh? Imagine if we could take a pill and get 100% focused all the time?
Well, due to the fact that it won't happen, we have to face the facts: distractions exist and we must learn how to deal with them.
How can we make sure we will avoid distractions and focus on what we need to do? Is there a proper strategy that will make you more productive, ignoring the most distractions you could possibly ignore?

I've been caught in this place for a long time. For years, I felt like I knew some stuff, I wanted to learn more but I was not yet an advanced programmer. Until I learned to learn.

On today's video, I received a very good and intriguing question.
A reader sent me an email telling me that he felt that he was being undervalued at work. He tells me he had currently quit a job in which everyone was idiot.
He has a hard time dealing with managers and coworkers that are complete idiots... What should he do to overcome this?
How should he deal with this kind of people?

Philosophy In Software Development Degrees?
Philosophy could be defined as the study of general and fundamental problems concerning matters such as existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language.
But... What does it have to do with programming?
Well, as you all know, Simple Programmer is much more than just programming and I could go further and say that this channel is all about philosophy.
So... How does philosophy relate to software development and should it be taught in college? Why should we even bother about it?

Pomodoro Technique & Time Management (Productivity Hacks)
The Pomodoro Technique is a wide technique used to boost productivity and help with a lot of time management problems.
For those who don't know, the Pomodoro technique consists in using a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. These intervals are named pomodoros, the plural in English of the Italian word pomodoro (tomato), after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer that Cirillo used as a university student.
There are six stages in the technique:
Decide on the task to be done.
- Set the pomodoro timer (traditionally to 25 minutes).
- Work on the task until the timer rings. If a distraction pops into your head, write it down, but immediately get back on task.
- After the timer rings, put a checkmark on a piece of paper.
- If you have fewer than four checkmarks, take a short break (3–5 minutes), then go to step 1.
- After four pomodoros, take a longer break (15–30 minutes), reset your checkmark count to zero, then go to step 1.
So, I've received some questions about implementing the pomodoro technique and boosting your time management skills. Wanna know more about the pomodoro technique? Watch this video and find out!

The Secret Of Life - Trusting The Process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0thiApKUM0
Don't Focus On Results
How many times have you felt frustrated when you did not get the things you wanted? Have you ever wondered why this might be happening to you? Maybe, this is because you're focusing on results.
We all focus on results sometimes in our lives. And I couldn't blame you for that. It's hard to keep working hard and not seeing any results. We all want to get the results from what we worked for so hard and for a lot of time. But, it can't be frustrated, I know.
Instead of asking "How do I do this?" or "How can I do this?" you find yourself anxiously thinking "Can I do this?" and "What if I fail?". The joy of learning ceases to exist. In my experience, learning can be a tremendous source of fulfilment and joy. But to experience, this takes valuing the process over the end result and not comparing yourself to others.
At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is the hard work you've done. So, if you're suffering solely from focusing on results, watch this video and find out!
