The essentials of spiritual awakening: ?Learning to “know thyself” ?The importance of asking deeper questions Basically, people fall into one of three categories: Sleeping, Waking, and Awake. On earth, it's best (and humble) to assume we are not fully awake, which means that most of us are either sleeping or in the process of awakening. Those who are sleeping "know not what they do." They are basically having a nightmare, living in judgement, resentment, and anything but love. Those who are awakening know that it is best to align with God/Love as often as possible. But we tend to slip back and forth. Many times, we find ourselves being judgmental, but we can get better at catching ourselves, and forgiving ourselves for our error (Oops!), and get back to living a more God-centered life. He begins by sharing a wonderful explanation of how the world of projection works and how all that we see is a projection from our inner self. He then explains how mystics so often ask us to do our best to "destroy our ego," while materialistic people encourage us to become our ego (ego-centered). But only through the middle path of neither becoming our ego nor destroying our ego will we actually awaken to who we really are.
