A few folks were interested in the rifle I posted on Instagram so I thought I would do a close up short overview of it to share.
It is one of my favorites for all its quirky reasons.

3D Printing is changing the ability of legal restrictions to gun building, stopping specific designs is getting impossible and the media and gun controllers are in their death throws (that is why they are so spastic lately).

Went to a fun carnival style range for live fire testing. 300 rounds thru the gun with maybe 30 failure to ejects - I started lubing up the rounds before I loaded the magazine and that sorted the issue. Might be a barrel break in issue and it did not happen after the first 150 rounds. Best tool is a 1/4 inch open ended box wrench to pull the partially ejected shells.

Turns out my long carbon barrel on the Bento Box with a folding brace printed at 100% infill and with a red dot optic is 2 pounds 15 ounces (light but also not a total toothpick but the length makes you feel like it is lighter than it is)
I am starting today to make the lightest 10/22 I can with 3D printing and carbon components on a BUDGET! No titanium charging handles that cost more that the rest of the build.
Here is what I am starting with and what I need to solve -
- Ivan the troll receiver as I think it is better for this build than the others available (Galileo, LX22, Bento Box, etc)
- 16.25 carbon fiber barrel with trimmed down chamber and end cap (my 19.5" weights 8 oz now)
- I am thinking of using a similar design to this for the chassis and using a carbon tube for the "stock" so I need to work to reduce this design to a lighter profile and I need to work out a printable butt pad for the tube.
Any CAD people out there want to help? Things take me forever in CAD and they end up looking pretty ugly.
STAY TUNED

Well sometimes it is two steps forward and one step back, but I am happy for what I am learning in this process. Ordered new filament rolls to keep things going and will be back with new updated designs soon!

YouTube has pulled my video that shows people how to orient and print the various 3D printed files to print the Sub 1K project. They have also gone after a whole bunch of folks as of yesterday with strikes and removals.

A few 3D printed designs are starting to use this lined barrel style - Tubee22, Bento Box, Galileo all use it. Can be a cheap and easy way to go and I have a few hundred rounds thru these now with no issues.
