Truth-Hop Tribe in PDX is Gathering Intensity in Unity
###### Yo - the event I went to on Saturday was quite possibly the best underground hip-hop gathering I have ever experiences... I really cannot describe it in words, but I will do my best to provide a brief synopsis.
###### I did not capture the best parts on video, not even close... I had to reserve most of the event for spirit absorption, and I did not have the will to record the parts that hit me as hard as they did - that was only for those of us who were present, too sacred to record. *Rob the Universe* held a 3 part story at one point in his set - telling the tale of his etheric alien encounter where the fate of humanity was being discussed, off his album that can only be accessed by decoding the cypher (no pun intended - from me at least) in his album book. His delivery was unreal.
###### Homegirl *Emily* threw down some insanely majikal spirit invocations through freestyle verse AND singing (combined), also in combination with precognitive group Tarot energy transfusion - all congealed together in one complete ceremony. This was all in addition to amazing sets from *Cairoglyphs* and *Rhymewaves* as well.
###### There was also a ridiculously talented cypher that transpired towards the end of the evening. I was absolutely mind-blown by the high caliber cosmic psyches of some of these lyrically minded folks. The DJ throwing down on the decks for *Emily* and later the cypher was incredible... the depth and richness of his instrumentals struck me so deeply I felt compelled to approach him... this is what happened:
Me: "You make the beats?
DJ: "Oh yea..."
Me: "Where's your shit at?"
DJ - Slams a fresh cassette tape in my hand like it was 1994, explaining, "there is 15 albums on this, these are very rare, only about 10 people have these".
Me (a little confused and also excited by the serendipitous nostalgia): "Do I need to have a cassette deck to play this thing?!"
DJ: "No, its a USB drive with 15 albums"
Me: "I was literally just trying to figure out an appropriate medium to distribute my new album on... I was thinking flash drives with logos, but this is WAY more up my alley!"
###### He wasn't kidding - 15 full albums indeed... I plugged it in as soon as I got home and started to hone in on beats I was feeling connected with, which is many of them (native-spirit-style beats I have been searching for/are hard to find)... I am still listening to it, TONS of music on this thing!
###### At one point I was incredibly thirsty, so I went in search of water. I found Emily and *Illuminertia*, at which point Emily offered me hot water shots (yes you read that correctly)...
DJ: "we're doin' the hard stuff back here!"
###### For whatever reason, I needed the blessing of the blessed purified water in that form.
###### I walked out and told the hot-water story to my homie Perk when he said he was thirsty. He then proceeded to ask a group of people this question:
Perk: "Does anyone have any water that's not hot?" - I freekin' lost it when he said that, what a ridiculous question to ask haha.
###### Anyway - I see/feel a ton of power and energy forming in our local conscious circle that has recently been forming - this event was the best one yet, but not the last... get ready, *Self-Owned-Souls* are on the way.

THE S
Secret-Studio-Space
###### This studio actually exists in the basement of an event space I previously performed at. The homie who invited me here is a super chill guy, and we had long convos shooting the shit about different studio gear and production techniques.
###### The space itself has a TON of potential. The room had so many sidewalls that I literally could not keep track of how many there were, which is the perfect setup for recording harmonics - so much non-parallelity. I told my engineer friend, "you already have the hardest part out of the way, a space with enough head room and oddly shaped", which is often the hardest part to achieve when designing a soundroom unless the room is already pre-shaped in such as way (as this one is).
###### I suggested that he flush the ceiling with slats of choice cut wood. He said that would be good, and adding some cross slats on those would be even better for diffusion. I then discussed various methods of achieving proper acoustic treatment in the room to complete the pro-soundroom experience, but in the end, it all boils down to the building owners funding it. I think we may convince them of this by throwing a fundraiser show, which honestly would not be hard to achieve the numbers for (seeing as how are secondary market building supply sourcing in top notch.
###### This video displays this amazing soundroom/monitoring area while a couple local producers are crafting a new EDM beat. I made sure to capture the engineer's beautiful 500 series preamp rack on their too - gorgeous (pictured below). I am looking forward to being a part of this local studio's future.

## Turning this sonic "*Ice-Cave*" into the "*Ice-Cave in Space*"
>...or just an ice cave with a starlit open roof... guess that makes this some kind of arctic cenote! (look up "cenotes" - if you don't know, they are gems of nature).
#### The problem so called "studio foam" is that 99% of companies that advertise their products to treat sound... actually don't.
Most studio foam is made with the same base materials as the common egg crate style foam used for bedding - even if its not in egg crate shape (wedges, pyramids, blocks), its still the same material. All of this "studio foam" looks and feels exactly the same as actual professional grade acoustic foam - in fact they are identical in all their aspects accept for the most important one... how they ***SOUND***.
True acoustic foam is comprised of a completely different chemical composition that is actually designed for acoustics. There are only a few companies out there that actually supply the *correct material*, but the only one I actually know of is called *Auralex*.
I purchased *Auralex* foam for my sound booth, but ***ONLY*** for the ceiling and door. All the walls are treated with custom built panels made with a special type of mineral wool called *Rockwool Safe & Sound*. I did not think that the ceiling foam would make much of a difference, but oh man was I wrong. In the following video you can clearly hear the phenomenal improvement in sonic resonance as I am talking and walking through the door and into the vocal booth.
The added aesthetic benefit of making the ceiling in my sound room look like the night sky in a deep forest far from urban life - is an extra sweet surprise bonus! Absolutely loving how the final stages of this project are birthing unintentional artistic expressions that should inspire all the artists who cross paths with this studio for years to come.

I have been going through a ton of nonsense, and it seems I have entered a time of great transformation. Nothing has been easy recently, and there is a ton of good, and a ton of bad in my life currently. I explain most of everything in this video.

The-Haven's-Final-Show---Family-Mystic
###### This band absolutely stole the show, and if you are down with hella funky legit GDF-vibe jam bands playing around the most incredible art ever, you should definitely watch this video. If you have not yet seen [part 1 with *Rhymewave*](https://peakd.com/hive-116127/@elamental/klflfjgm) however, I would highly recommend check that out first (that is also where *most* of the story and art photographs from this event are located).
###### If you couldn't tell by the title, the band's name is: [*Family Mystic*]() (link to more music). I don't always remember band/artist names immediately, but with a dope-ass name like that, it was harder to forget. Well chosen bredren.
###### These guys provided the perfect vibe to close out (and also extend for a long time) the final night at our beloved Haven. You will also notice in my video (led by a caption and vocally) a really nice angle I got on a shot when the guitarist and keyboardist started having a bit of a to and fro musical conversation with their respective instruments.

###### My partner showed me this amazing waterfall near one of the spots they used to live back in the day... This place has some *amazing* nature and wildlife around, and is as scenic as can be. The falls themselves are stunning, with all the flowing rock formations one could imagine.
###### We decided not to *only* view this one from the ground however, and hiked the trek all the way up the back side of the hill to get to the top overlook of the falls as well. You can see both perspectives in this short clip. Enjoy!
