In this photo is Elmer Francis Graham, my wife's paternal grandfather. After my brief introduction, the commentary is by my wife's father Bill Graham and her aunt Betty, Elmer's children.
This is a video about my grandfather, Robert Marvin Dunn, as told my my grandmother, Jeraline Boiles (Dunn) about his being born on the Fitzthugh Ranch in Bosque County, Texas and then his family moving to Lueders, Texas. One of the first things you will learn about this video is that my grandmother is a bit scatterbrained. In order to help you follow along in the story, I have included the following notes:
1) The Greenwades are not related to my family.
2) Lueders, Texas straddles the line between Jones and Shackleford counties.
3) Lueders, Texas is about 35 miles north of Abilene, Texas. She makes it sound like everyone knows where is it located, but the town's population in the 1950 Census was a little over 700 and it had slowly dwindled to about half of that by 2010, so I would not call it a thriving metropolis.
4) Lila and Emmett Thompson were her sister and brother-in-law.
5) Billy and Oree Dunn were her son and daughter-in-law.
6) The "he" that she referred to passing away was my grandfather. "They" were his childhood family.
7) Chester Dunn was my grandfather's oldest brother who was about 11 years old at the time.
8) The Thompson place, if it is the house I am thinking about, belonged to Emmett Thompson's family and Lila and Emmett lived there from as early as I can remember until their passing (her in 1982 and him in 1987). I visited that house several times while they were still alive.
9) The gap is from the time my grandfather was born in 1902 until they returned to Bosque County circa 1910. My research indicates they left for Lueders some time between his birth and the birth of his brother in 1908 (who was born in Jones County).
