I'm amazed that YouTube was able to properly decode the ancient and long-forgotten IBM Ultimotion .AVI video codec used in this video, because none of the media player programs I tried would play it properly (or at all), not even VLC. The video file is dated April 20, 1993, and was included in a sample collection of multimedia demo videos from IBM. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ml3I_lGi2EI
A failed attempt at repairing a Dell W3000 LCD television from 2005. I thought the problem would be bad capacitors in the power supply, but it's more serious than that. This model has a reputation for being very unreliable, which is unfortunate, because it has some nice features, such as external speaker outputs.

I picked it up at a local freecycle.org "Free4All" get-together (basically a flea market where everything is free). It had a note attached to it saying, "I work fine, please give me a good home." It indeed works flawlessly, although the backup battery (dated 1998, original to the machine!) is dead.
Call me silly, but I plan to max it out with a 120 GB hard drive, 512 MB RAM, 6 MB video RAM, and Mac OS X 10.3... just so I can have a well-equipped (but slow) "modern era" Mac to use.

The smallest USB hard drive ever sold, at least outside of Japan -- the MicroGem QuickiDrive from 2006, featuring a 2, 4, 5, or 6 GB, 1 inch MicroDrive inside. Not to be confused with the 1980s Sinclair ZX tape drives of the same name, it's a mechanical spinning hard drive with the same interface and form factor as CompactFlash cards.

A bunch of video clips I recorded at the 2010 New York International Auto Show, with guest commentary by my dad. Featured in this segment:

Sorry about the poor audio quality; I didn't have my external stereo microphone plugged in yet.

After the failure of their MicroMV format, in 2005 Sony introduced the smallest camcorder ever to use standard MiniDV tapes, the DCR-PC55 Handycam. Unfortunately its impressive design, features, and build quality are matched by unimpressive video quality, with poor low-light performance and audible tape motor noise. With a list price of $799, the DCR-PC55 didn't sell well, and was Sony's last miniaturized tape camcorder. It was succeeded by various models using Memory Stick flash memory media.

Recorded using the "Color Bars" mode of a Sony HDR-HC7 Handycam which I got for an incredibly good price on eBay because the seller didn't post any photos and said it "just stopped working" and was broken.
When I received the camcorder, it was switched into Nightshot mode, and I think the seller simply couldn't figure out how to switch it back to normal! I recorded some test footage and it came out fine, but I'll have to let it upload overnight because at 25 Mbps, HDV 1080i video is so huge.
