Fading LED on and off with astable 555 timing capacitor and op amp voltage follower
The 555 timer's timing capacitor wired in astable mode will keep charging and discharging between 1/3 and 2/3 of the supply voltage. I wanted to use that changing voltage to change the voltage across an LED. An op amp wired as a voltage follower will look at the capacitor voltage, and power a light load at that same voltage. The Anode of the LED is connected to the positive supply, so when the cathode side voltage gets lower, the LED gets brighter. Whereas when the LED cathode side voltage goes up, the LED gets more dim, because there's less voltage difference.
