The concept of systemic racism is nebulous, so I look into statistics and data in the following areas: Redlining Inequality Mobility Education and job rates Black names on resumes Affirmative action Healthcare Punishment Crime Policing Police shootings As I see it, seeing systemic racism in many ways is comparable to seeing a glass as half-empty or half-full. The third episode of Divisive Definitions: Political Vocabulary Defined - Stop forcing me defend Trump! ‘fact check’, ‘bombshell’, ’beginning of the end’, ‘fascist’, and ‘authoritarian’, all in relation to President Trump. I feel like far too often, fact checks need facts but seem to miss the mark, either not actually commenting on the stated fact, or disputing it by stating a related fact instead of the one in question. I’m also tired of being told of a new bombshell testimony what seems like every day, and that this time they finally have Trump. Finally, Trump isn’t an authoritarian or even a fascist – people need to take the rhetoric down a couple of notches on all sides - it would be so much more pleasant and informative for everyone.
