This was so much fun! Choose three or more colors and create something! So - here is the link to the little sink strainer I found. As I mentioned, I had a hard time finding it - so hope this link will help. http://www.amazon.com/shop/designedbykathy
I used three colors for this pour. Acrylic paint, Floetrol and treadmill belt oil. I was very pleased at how the cells popped up to give this piece to much dimension. I can see so many other possibilities pouring in a ring.
Thanks for watching! Happy pouring!

I love doing the animal prints! I used black, buttermilk, real brown and metallic rose gold for this pour. Use small back and forth movements as you pour the paint on the canvas. It is so much fun to watch you pattern unfold!
My pouring recipe:
1 part paint to 2 parts Floetrol
I used a 16 x 20 canvas for this painting.
I done a lot of these and played around with different color combinations – so feel free to go for it!
Happy Pouring,
Kathy

Welcome to TUESDAY TIPS!! I know there is so much information out there – and it can be overwhelming. Today I am addressing how to mix your paint with Floetrol. This is a recipe for many pours – but not all! This has been my go-to ratio/recipe for many of my pours and it has worked time and time again. As with most things – there are exceptions to every rule!
I always – generally use a 1 part paint to two parts Floetrol. This would be for dirty pours, ring pours, bottle bottom pours and strainer/colander pours. For pours such as dutch pours and swipes, often there needs to be different ratios.
For the craft acrylics I used in this video, I used 1 ounce of paint to 2 ounces of Floetrol. This worked perfectly, until I opened the bottle that has apparently been sitting for a while! Please see the video of what I had to do in order to get the same consistency as the others. For the tube paint, I used ½ ounce of paint and 2 ½ ounces of Floetrol. These do not have to be and exact science – just make sure each of your colors have the same “flowing” consistency.
I hope you enjoyed this tip as much as I did! I was so happy to find it and share it with you guys.

Welcome to TUESDAY TIPS! Have you been wanting to learn pour painting, but just didn’t know where to start? Today’s tips covers --- mixing the exact same amount of paints with (1) straight medium (Floetrol), (2) Floetrol (70%) and water (30%), and (3) with just water. The result were interesting. Not a lot of variation between the straight Floetrol and the one with the Floetrol and water. However, the one with water – where I diluted the same amount of paint to a similar consistency as the Floetrol mixes!
Happy Pouring!

I really not ready for short days and fall just yet! I could even stand for another trip to the ocean!
• Pillow (Base Layer) Paint: 14oz of Color Place White Satin with 1TBS of water. (Of course, I did not use the whole 14oz – just enough to cover the canvas)
• The pouring medium: – I used the HGTV Sherwin Williams Satin – Base C. Three tablespoons of that – plus one tablespoon of Minwax Polycrylic (can definitely use the Jo Sonja varnish). ½ teaspoon amounts. Mix with small amounts (like ½ tsp of paint – more depending on the consistency of your paint)
• The CELL ACTIVATOR: I used @TammyAndersonArt recipe for the activator. Her recipe has worked like a charm for me! So – thank you – thank you - #TammyAnderson for figuring all that out. Here is her mix: 2TBSP of Floetrol (US Floetrol), 1TBSP Glue All, ½ TBSP of Amsterdam White and ½ tsp of Minwax Pre-Stain. There all a lot of recipes out there – used what works best for you!

Well hey hey and hi ya'll! I used mountain blue, wine, oyster white and metallic rose gold for this simple -- pretty cool pour! A "dirty" pour! Simply done - simply explained! This is not something to "overthink" - overdo or get too begeeers technical! This is a form of painting was "acknowledged" around 1930 and was initially called "accidental painting". So ---- bottom line -- have fun!
Thanks for watching!
Happy pouring!!

So yes -- another strainer pour! Some tips to think about. With my last strainer pour (Secret to the Colander Pour) I had a lot of questions about the thickness/thinness of the paint. If you watched until the end -- I showed you the results of it --- PLUS a photo of the pour I did the day before (as practice). Of course, the one I did not video came out really cool. So -- here are my findings as far as trying to keep your patter using the strainer -- if your paint is too thin - you will lose your pattern and run the risk of your pattern running off the edges. Also, if the pour (the one I did not video) I used Floetrol as my additive. In this video I used Liquitex Pouring Medium. Liquitex is AMAZING for flowing -- however, I think the Floetrol worked better for the strainer pour. So -- I challenge you to do your own experiments! I used true blue, turquoise and white. The link to the swivel I used is - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0773LZ879/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I look forward to hearing how your projects turn out!

Yeah! I needed and wanted a happy painting today!
My colors:
Ocean Blue
Metallics Rose Gold
Liquitex Yellow Ochro
Liquitex Magenta
I mixed each of these a little thicker than I do for a normal pour. I used one part paint to about one to one and a half of the Floetrol (where I usually use a 1:2 ratio for a regular pour). Just remember, the thicker paint will create large cells, whereby thinner paint with create small cells.
For my cell creator (or activator):
I used black paint mixed with Floetrol (1:2 ratio) then added 5 drops of Unicorn Art silicon oil.
