#146 - PRO On Talent Lav Recording with the Lectrosonics PDR
2019-08-16 #proaudio #lectrosonics
In this video it's a quick first look at the Lectrosonics PDR (Personal Digital Recorder) that I've been using for a few months. For YouTubers, film makers and all sorts of other creators this is an awesome choice. Often operating as a one man production crew, these little units have been a game changer for my workflow. Covering trade shows, doing interviews, and shooting in the studio, these have been the easiest way I've found to get the quality I want without a lot of heavy gear or hassle.
A full video will be coming in the near future as I use them more and continue to test their performance in more detail.
Thanks to LectroSonics for providing the PDR recorder + LAV I'm using in this video - https://amzn.to/2IGy5CP -

@ATEN International Co., Ltd.
There are times when cheap USB hubs and switches are okay and times when you really need to step up your game and make sure things are up to the task at hand. Of all of the USB products I have personally tested, ATEN consistently seems to have solutions that get the job done when it matters most. They're not the cheapest, most lightweight or smallest options out there for the task at hand, but that's exactly the point.

In this video we're taking a look at a precision audio tool from the folks at Radio Design Labs. The PT-AMG2 is designed to help you set the correct gain structure between all of your analog audio gear. Giving you a reliable tone generator to output with a precise VU meter on the input, this handheld or bench mountable tool is built to last and get the job done in the field. Visit https://www.rdlnet.com/ for all of their unique products.
To clarify, we love the qBox. It was only used as an example in this video due to its popularity and how many folks have experience using them as a tool in this category. Each has their strengths and hopefully this video will help as you decide which is right for your kit.

In this video we're getting into the new PreSonus ioStation 24c DAW controller and interface that was announced this past January at winter NAMM. I've had the 24c on the desk for the past couple of months through a few big editing projects and have to say it came in more useful than I originally expected. The factory replacement driver for the Fostex 6301 series speaker has been out of stock for a while now at all of the usual places. I recently picked up a 6301d that works but has been used hard over a lot of years and needs a new driver. So while the Fostex model is out of stock or out of production, we're forced to consider other replacement speakers. Hopefully, they will be available again soon, but in the meantime, why not try the most popular 4" car stereo replacement speaker on Amazon?
In this quick video, that's exactly what we're doing. We're going to stick a Boss BRS-40 into the 6301 cabinet and hear how it compares to the original, albeit clapped-out, driver. It would be great to get hold of a new factory driver to test against the popular options, so let me know if you've got a line on any of those for sale. There are also other 4" full-range speaker options out there, so let me know if you think one would work better for this box.
