My training is shifting toward focusing on strength development for a while, so I can come into next season with a better foundation. In here I discuss the overall ideas in my training, what lifts I'll focus on the most, and how I plan to develop strength that is relevant to sprinting.

Use these band exercises for sprinters to develop better internal rotation of the hip and femur, as well as better external rotation of the shoulder and humerus. Improving these movements will help your sprint technique by allowing for a more balanced, linear motion of the arms and legs when you sprint.

When we lift weights, jump, and sprint, our hips tend to bias toward external rotation. The problem is that if we lack internal rotation, we will not be able to move as effectively compared to if we are balanced between internal and external rotation. If you find that you spike yourself when sprinting, chances are you need better hip internal rotation.
Similarly, if you cannot get the arms to come up in front of you into the front rack position of a clean, or your arms cross your body a lot when you sprint, it is likely that you need better external rotation of the shoulder and humerus.

As athletes mature, blending workouts can help bridge the gap between specific qualities (acceleration OR speed OR speed endurance) into a successful race model. There is a skill in being able to run a complete race, so athletes who have done a lot of broken work (on the individual qualities mentioned before) can benefit from blending these qualities in a single session.

Also, a note on reductionism:
Overly reductionist thinking is a plague of the modern coach.
On its own, reductionism is a vital part of analyzing any given phenomena in the world. Basically, it is breaking something down into its individual part, and applying some concept of value to those respective parts.
Where people get things twisted is when they either break something down into the wrong parts, or they look at these parts in the wrong way relative the system as a whole.
As a coach or athlete, you need to look at performance as the result of integrated systems working together to produce an outcome. Any specific quality is not THE quality needed for performance. It may be vital, and it may be very important, but whatever "it" is, it is a part of a system.
Break things down, but step back and look at how they integrate into the system as a whole, and you might start to see things with a bit more clarity.
