Wayne took this video last night after spending a number of hours getting the surface and edge-blending maps just perfect.
The good news is that the chances of having to repeat the process are very small. I replaced the original projector mounts with a new set that I built. The new mounts are MUCH firmer than the original and they don't move AT ALL.

This all started with a Rostock MAX 3.2 kit from SeeMeCNC.
I've gotten into the habit of naming my printers - because, why not? (Don't anthropomorphize 3D printers, they hate that.)
Because the kit that I ended up with was black, I decided to add a trim color before the build... After that, things got a bit...excessive.

Just an informal overview of how I rebuild a panel for the simulator. In this case, it's the APG-63(V1) radar control panel for the F-15C.

This is a short demo of the system we're using to maintain the mirror shape in real-time. The controller is based on a basic Arduino with some glue logic to interface the IR transmitter/detector sensor that we're using to detect the position of the mirror while it's under vacuum.
I wrote the graphing interface software using Delphi XE. It talks to the Arduino at 115200bps.

Rob wanted to see how the video looked, so I made him fly the sim.
One small problem. Rob doesn't know how to fly. *snickers*
The screen used is one salvaged from an old Toshiba rear-projection TV set. With the exception of the ink stain, it works really well. The projector I have puts out a measly 800x600. A new projector is on my project build list, just haven't gotten that far. :)
